value is exchange value.
something may be valuable to you as an individual, that's cool, but for the purposes of market value it is literally just exchange value. how much of x can you trade 1 y for.

Value has to do more with what industries are currently leading. LTV is largely discredited but there's so much more than that. Capitalism and how it's specific mechanisms work in accordance with the state's laws, and policies, on the grand scale of the world-market is a complex and fascinating topic.

Things you put in effort to get/achieve

If you work your ass off I order to buy something you want then you value that

If someone gives you that without having to work for it you won't value it as much

Do not ask anyone who is complaining about student loan help going on. They will seethe in the most unimaginably see-through ways showing that pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps is not an idiom they truly believe in. They are simply privileged and whining now. Absolutely hilariously sad!

>> No.51135140

First step is not confusing price and value. Some things are valuable even if you get them for free or easily. Has to do with scarcity, more on that later.

A products economic value is essentially just how USEFUL it is to someone. How much benefit/utilization they can derive from it, taking price out of the equation.

Benefit/usefulness includes things like pleasure, enjoyment, security, inspiration, decoration, social status signaling, numismatics, potentiality, and other more abstract measures of benefit.

A house has value whether you get it for free or you paid for it, since you can derive a lot of use from it. Shelter, leisure, storage, logistics, privacy, etc, etc.

Where SCARCITY and VALUE intersect (essentially via supply&demand function), you get the price or market value, i.e. how much are people willing to pay for the item and how easy is it to acquire or produce.

confidence. how much value something has is a measure of how much confidence yourself and other people have in it.
>>51132451
these are measures of different types of confidence. obviously alot of people put their confidence in the value of things like air and oil, gold, water.
>>51133505
time is another measure of confidence. like when you see a young child you have more confidence in believing that their whole life is ahead of them, compared to somebody who is old your confidence therefore value in what they can now do is much less.

The third Triagon was born of Death. It saw that the world was radiating excess energy. It wanted to put great things into motion. But greatness wasn't possible without value. The first transaction.

It took its blade and cut a large hole into the boundary, creating a sudden flash of high volume transactional power. And just for a moment things seeped value into themselves, assuming souls. The second transaction.

The hole was quickly mended, and the overpowering transmission of value was cut short. But in that moment the seed of primordial financial might was planted, and the world took on its transactional form. Conflict and discord emerged, and the third Triagon was ecstatic. The third transaction.
