Is spending $7.49 on lunch every day at work a good financial investment?

What is that? A meal for a 110 lb woman?

used to work at a big company with a nice cafeteria. like the people who worked the kitchen were literally employees of a completely separate company. anyways for about $8.50 i could walk out with the biggest plate of whatever i wanted drink included. price eventually went up to a little below $10 after taxes but i still kept buying cuz i could get whatever the fuck i wanted made fresh every single day. they did not attempt to make "healthy dishes" like the one you posted.

Had this exact dilemma when I was a retail wagie. Id bring in salmon, rice, and steamed veggies and stunk up the whole break room. Then Id greet customers with my nasty fish breath. Im also part Flip so I doused all of it in vinegar too.
Sushi place in the same strip mall had a pretty good teriyaki chicken bowl that was slightly cheaper and better quality from the Jack In The Box there so I'd get one of those every now and then.

i had a workplace cafeteria with sub-mediocre meals for like $5. but then i found a huge piece of plastic in my food so i started spending $12-20 eating lunch out.

i should probably start mealprepping, but it just sucks so much with this rentoid mini-kitchen

In case this is a serious decision for you, I will stress that it makes sense to just spend the money and never think about it again if it's always that quality and $7.50.

Healthy, convenient, some variety at a reasonable price. Yes, you can maybe get it down to half that with Costco and meal prep, but the cost/benefit isn't worth it at all imo, ESPECIALLY if you don't already shop at Costco, aren't a decent cook, don't have the set up to cook complex stuff fast, etc.

If you get something like pic related, and chop it up, that's good for several meals, especially if you make a stew with some sauce and vegetables, like adding some potatoes, carrots, and peas really increases the volume. Along with a generous serving of rice, and maybe a fried egg on top, you can really stretch it out enough that you spend like $3-4 on a really large meal.

>> No.51132104

i like wendy's, i think it tastes good and it's cheap. other than that I am too cheap to spend on take out. Unless it's Ubereats with a steep promo discount (75%) or Ubereats pickup with a moderate discount; in both instances they should be under the cost of what I pay the restaurant directly.

If you earn $5 times 365 more that year than you would earn while spending 2.5$ on lunch. If you're alone and you can't prepare healthy food.
If you can mix it up with some home made food occasionally and with some strong dinner or breakfast combo.
