I’m 28, make 300k/yr, and live in a townhouse worth a little over 500k but I still feel like women will think I’m poor since I don’t own a SFH. Should I buy a 1M SFH just to appear wealthier to female partners? I have 200k in cash I can put down as a down payment. Depends on a lot of things, TH are of course cheaper and smaller but it’s much preferable to living in an apartment/condo. Even though you share walls it doesn’t feel quite the same as a condo because TH usually have thick firewalls separating the units. I pretty much never hear my neighbors besides the occasional faint thud. Back when I lived in a rental condo I would smell my neighbors cooking, hear their voices, music, etc and made me very self conscious about being overheard when watching porn or having sex. Now I can shout as much as I want and turn up the volume, it’s great. The main thing I don’t like most TH’s are very skinny and vertical, I would like a place with more horizontal space

Single family homes on a big lot are better because in a townhome your guest knows that if she screams there's a neighbor nearby who will definitely hear her scream.
In a big single family home there's usually a basement or even a bedroom where you could scream and nobody would hear you.
