ive never shorted crypto, how do you do it? what exchnage are you using for short and do they physically sned you the borrowed ETH or do they just hold everything and give you a promise to not kike you if something happens? or do they use a 3rd party escrow?

I just use Binance Margin Trading.

What happens is that I just close out my position when I want and get the money. You never actually get any crypto, at least I don’t think so.

interesting, so basically its a trade but hosted on the exchange so you dont actually have to deal wtih gas fees and transferring and returning coins? is there an option or limit on how long you can hold the short position? like when i short stocks, i can choose same day, 3 day, 7 day from my broker, is it the same with crypto there?
