I just buy on ebay, not even some hidden "eBay Japan" just straight up normal ebay for vidya. They have a much healthier market because they aren't infested with big-name price speculators like MetalJesusRocks. The retro vidya market fucken sucks, glad I got what I did when it was affordable.
Funnily enough it's made me budget way better. When games used to be $10-$20 a pop I would constantly buy new ones, but now that loads of stuff costs $60 I rarely buy vidya anymore and spend the money on silver instead!

Also OP pic was chosen because I've personally been collecting the older silver proof sets lately, they're actually fairly cheap right now. I have from 2009-2006, as well as the set for my birth year. They're really cool, I want to try to get every silver state quarter before 2023. So far 2009 is my favorite, FOUR lenses kicks ass and even the pennies in this set are the 95% copper ratio as they should be.

It was in a bag of half dollars. I found it yesterday in a bag of change my demented father in law hid in my hunting equipment. I knew it was silver as soon as I laid eyes on it. Then the year threw me off big time. I had to do a little digging ...
I hadn't previously known they were making silver Kennedy half dollars at all anymore, but you can see the proof finish trying to break through the trillions of scratches in an up-close shot, and it weighs what the silver proof is supposed to. Definitely not clad either not in the weight overlap range. Also not an alloy. This was probably stolen and sold by a crackhead or something. Or it might be a pawn shop closed down and a third party didn't know what it was because of the date, either way I have it in a capsule now, for whatever it's worth.

Currently im 100 in equities (world index + EM) but considering buying my first gold coin since i've been brainwashing myself by watching FIAT / central banking documentaries online.

I have a question though, i found the cheapest coins available in my country (picrel). They all cost the same with some minor differences. Are there any reason to prefer one of these coins over the others? Or are the different designs just there to make boomers feel good if they have their countries gold coin e.g with the queen on or someting.

Any advice?

The anons are fucking with you. Do not do chemical tests on your gold, especially not the one recommended.

The first line of defense in buying gold is buying from a reputable dealer. The second line of defense is not falling for something "too good to be true". The third line of defense is examining your gold for proper density. Only tungsten matches gold's high density and nobody is making tungsten coins. There are also machines that test electrical and atomic characteristics. Your LCS will have one. You can probably get them to test for you for a small fee. Don't expect it for free since, after all, you bought from their competitor. I would test it for you for free if you were in my area.

>Along with jewelry stores and pawn shops there are precious metals dealers that specialize in buying gold and silver which is where Gatehouse eventually ended up on the advice of her financial planner.

>Gatehouse sold the gold and silver and paid the dealer a commission. The five ounces of silver she purchased in 2013 for $10 dollars only increased $15 dollars over nine years to $125.

I like them a lot, one of the first bits of "coin collecting" I did as a kid was get every state quarter. Plus the amount of silver for the money isn't so bad either, for example the 2006 silver proof set was $40 for 1.3 ozt of silver. It's a nice entry-level budget way into numisfaggotry, I can't really afford to be buying lots of other stuff when so much of modern "coin collecting" is just speculating overpriced NGC/PCGS slabs. Have you seen the retarded new CAC thing where now SLABS are getting graded, not JUST the coin inside of it?

>Getting a plastic slab graded is absolute ass sniffing Funko Pop tier basedfagging.

I still think slabs themselves are unbearably lame, reading anon say people get plastic cases graded too almost made me vomit. Luv me some numisfaggotry provided I get good deals I could easily profit from if forced to sell, as opposed to buying overpriced coins from APMEX or Goldberg's Coin Shoppe, but authentication services and graded slabs take away all the skill and expertise once required to navigate numismatics and have opened the door to wealthy speculators, normies and soulless nouveau riche Chinks and Arabs, none of whom belong in the space. It's probably how autistic weebs feel when they hear absolute normans talk about watching dubbed Death Note or the like. I observed with dismay as the market has slowly changed since I was a kid, and have personally always avoided abominable slabshit like the plague as it's not only overpriced, but it also prevents one from fondling and soaking up the history and sovl of a coin which is a central reason I collect in the first place. Sorry for sperging but I really hate slabs and the hordes of midwits they have attracted to coins.

It's in all likelihood made the hobby more accessible, and that brings with it the good and the bad. I can appreciate a truly rare coin. On the flip side there are so many 'SUPER SPECIAL, FIRST STRIKE, DAY OF MINT, DALE EARNHARDT JR, AMERICAN FLAG EDITION' American Silver Eagles out there where shops ask for $80-$120 for them. It doesn't really matter, because those are the most common gold coins, and you'll never have problems getting your investment back if you sell. The dealer will give you the same price (spot gold) for any of them. So just get the one you like the most. Personally I'd go with the one that hasn't got the ugly queen on it, but that's just me. Maybe if they'd used her younger portrait I'd feel differently about this. But it's like they tried to make her as ugly as possible...
You could also just spend $20 more and get a bitchin' kruggerand. After all you're just buying one coin, so might as well make it a kickass one!

I don't think that plan makes sense, because they confiscated USD gold in 1933. And basically, if they want to confiscate something they will, even if they have to change the laws to do it. But with gold coins, it's easy to avoid that because they're small and easy to hide. When you'll talking about silver in the 1000's of oz then it's a lot more trouble.

the price of gold is determined by the paper markets in Europe. Over the counter gold sales don't reflect the gold price so long as you are not paying a premium.

If you want unlimited supply of physical you have to be willing to pay higher than the paper spot price. I predit russia is going to do this at some point triggering a real emptying of lme/comex by people that wnat to buy cheap from the paper markets, get delivery, and then resell in russia for a higher physical price.

this is false. premiums are high because demand for physical exceeds supply, so nobody wants to sell for spot. As the supply of physical gold and silver dries up the price for physical will spike higher than the paper markets and you will have to pay that premium because everyone in the world is competing for a very small amount of real physical product.

We are also no longer in a recession and had record job growth recently. BRICs can't affect the price of PMs in any meaningful way, Chinese economy is collapsing now that the FED stopped the printer. You don't really need that gadget, you can just use another coin to strike the surface like he does here:
https://youtu.be/2ymGAyKAg-k
But if you're willing to spend some money, get a precision scale (at least 2 decimal places), some calipers to measure precise dimensions, and a neodymium magnet like he uses in this video:
https://youtu.be/NgSXg-WOEVY
You should also try to find some high resolution photos of the same coin, to compare to the one you have, and hopefully they also list the exact weight in grams and dimensions in mm.
If you do all these test (ping, magnet, weight, dimensions, visual check) then you'll know exactly what you have.
It could also be useful to find some books and coin catalogs like pic. You can probably even find PDFs online.

I just buy every week, doesn't matter what the price is. Some weeks it's cheap and I get more, some weeks it's expensive and I get less. Just keep buying.

I started buying myself in 1999 or 2000. I was like 12 or 13. My dad was a really poor guy growing up and he was obsessed with us not living like he did. I thought it was weird at the time, I'm so thankful now.

>check for a 1oz silver coin I saw
>decide to look it up on the official mint site for once
>notice Royal Canadian Mint has it listed for like $60
I don't get it. Is it just blatant price gouging, or do they come to your house and blow you if you order from them?

That's a neat series, fren. I think the 2019 coin is my favorite. It's interesting to note that 2009 and 2016 are virtually identical to one another, save for them being mirrored, and the placement of the sun.

They are the big Jew. Check prices for 10 oz and 100oz bars. They probably can't get away with huge premiums on bars.

Petey I live in westchester ny and everywhere I go people are spending, restaurants are crowded. It seems things are going great. When economy is doing well inflation occurs. The definition of recession has to be broader then 2 straight quarters of negative gdp growth. There is no shortage of silver and gold in the COMEX
