>> No.50931045

>>50931019
No it's not a meme. Locking via a hardware wallet, in this case a trezor, basically means you've locked your BTC to the current price. It is dangerous though when it pumps hard, your BTC can be left being worth less than the current price.

So it's literally just a sell order but you don't get to use the liquidity? You're giving out an indefinite loan to a company that can declare bankruptcy at any time for 0% APY? Am I understanding this right?

They are trolling you there's no such thing as blocking BTC at certain price in a hardware wallet, just as there's no such things as garloids. This is a shit thread just as "what are the financial implications of [retarded situation], pajeeet scams, and snail posting threads

Is locking same as taking a screenshot of your account, printing it, taping the print to the screen and then lean back and relax? But once you peak behind it (unlock) you are right back at the market price?

you can use the trezor smart contract to lock a price similar to an options contract in tradfi

>> No.50931356

>>50931343
But who is on the other side of that contract, who will pay the difference if unlocked?

>> No.50931375

>>50931322
No it's due to the nature of hardware wallets. Because they're offline, when you lock it the value worth of BTC doesn't actually update/change. It holds the value at a constant.

If you have a hard time understanding just thing of it as somewhat similar to a peg, but not really.

If you lock in at say, 60k, and someone else has locked in at say 30k, that creates a sort of virtual market in which, when these coins are unlocked, the exchange/market simplifies the arbitrage so they effectively cancel one another out, and each buyer/seller gets what they originally locked in at. The only downside is latency of transaction and it can often take time (sometimes up to 30 minutes) for an exchange to pair price unlocking arbitrage users. It's due to be upgraded in the next Bancor V4.0 release
