Same. My logic is our entire civilisation is at the back end of some long gone glorious days. My company too. In years past hard workers probably existed. They built this company from scratch with hard work. But they are long gone and now there's us. We tighten a few bolts, kick some pipes and call it a day. Occasionally something breaks and we patch it up like half assed retards with minimal effort. Much like our society, the business is crumbling. But when it finally falls, I'll be no where to be seen.

That's not the problem though.
The problem with jobs is that you have to get up at the same time everyday. It doesn't matter to me how chill the job is. Having to wake up on a schedule and attend a daily standup that you can't skip ruins my life. Same with having other people giving you deadlines and telling you what to do.

Literally nobody works, everyone is doing this OP. Most of our "jobs" aren't real jobs, they're just a fucking stage play to keep us stressed, demotivated, and constantly generated tax revenue. Automation has created so many efficiencies and are more reliable than the average "college graduate" that there's really no point in so many positions.

Don't overthink it. If you're in danger of being fired over not putting up a good enough appearance you'd know. But if you've never had a negative performance review or whatever (doesn't sound like it cause you're getting promotions) then it's fine. The promotions and raises are for show as well by the way, inflation is designed to level those out but they feel psychologically like you're progressing. Same concept as RPGs use for their level up systems, it's a very easy reward pathway in the brain to manipulate. It's just more apparent how pointless grinding at a job is compared to grinding in some orc fields because at least you know you can put the game down and take an extended break with no repercussions if you ever get tired.

Tech is in the biggest 'bullshit bubble' ever. So many people are doing nothing WFH, myself included. I just hope this house of cards doesn't collapse before I bail out.

originally coming from software development, helping ordering and planning smaller features and tasks, but nowadays forcefully applied to anything for no reason but to hire more (((scrum masters))) and (((agile coaches))) and shit

working from home in a design role. I’m responsible for creating one document a week and occasionally chiming in on git issues using buzzy in-group lingo like “wayfinding” and “journey mapping”

constantly get praised for my “insight” and “contributions”

actually spend 80% of my day embroidering and crocheting, working on a craft which brings me great joy, doing yoga, day trading, leaving midday to go for a walk

sometimes I think about getting a second job and doubling my income but life is too damned cozy

It is called the imposter syndrome Anon. I figure out when doing a consulting for a multinational company. It is finally is pyramid squeme of people wondering if the anyone knows they are an impostor, because believe they do not do anything or either do not know enough for their position and salary.

Just few people do the job at the end. Sometimes outsourced.

It is possible to profit from this knowledge.

that’s literally what everybody in my bureau does
sometimes i even catch some people watching series or play video games
there is only a few hyper productive autists who do everything
so wfh has zero impact of how much gets done
and thats in a field where things actually matter
i can’t even imagine how it looks in the government field

If you have Revit or CAD experience, look for a MEP design firm. We wfh twice a week, and some people more than that. Flexible since all you need is a computer, but you may have to visit a site every once in a while.

I went to the grocery store a few weeks ago to purchase groceries. It was a young manager or in 30s or so in the customer area. He was on the main PC. Browsing and chatting on Facebook. maybe it was for work (I don't think so...) here I am, work as a slave for creative jobs but I have to claw for work because the only thing I don't have is that I suck at talking to people. The 80/20 rule I am starting to believe in. It even happened to me in university when I did nearly all of the work in the group projects and I had to delegate the group members or else they weren't doing any work (but at least they liked me after they realized maybe my social skills not so good but good at being equal and kind with them when it came to work).
