A smart contract needs to be able to act on information that has a stamp of approval from a decentralized network of game theoretically motivated truth producers. All of finance moving to blockchain will be a slow process. All of finance moving to rely on truth-stamped information will happen much quicker.

Further redpill: Chainlink and Internet Computer together will solve what Ethereum set out to do. Chainlink is about much more than forwarding true facts to the blockchain, it also becomes a way to offload computation from the smart contract main chain (ethereum now, icp in the future) in a way that is equally decentralized, trustless and secure as the smart contract platform itself. Basically it’s the real solution to how blockchains can scale into world computers - not when it comes to tx per sec, but when it comes to computations per sec. I won’t go closer into icp’s role since this is a link redpill thread, just know that Chainlink’s future is not tied down by the issues plaguing eth.
