I trade weekly vertical option spreads. I can see if the underlying is increasing or decreasing throughout the day and if I can relax or need to tweak my position. If you’re just doing buy and hold stuff it’s unnecessary. But with a 2.5 spread the difference between losing money and making money is a 1.25 movement in the underlying you need to monitor it.

Yahoo finance API package. You might be able to pull from some other source but yahoo finance is free.
They have options pricing available I have two other scripts I wrote for calls and outs where I can see the option chain for any stock.
I have it set up so I can compare two different expiration dates and see a range of strikes with an arbitrary spread you input.

The code for the option chains one won’t fit in a single pic so I grabbed the output so you can see how it works.
If enough anons are interested I can upload this code too but would prob need to use pastebin or something

Apparently the NASDAQ ratio in 2002 was trading at a P/E ratio of 200 at the peak, while ours is a much more moderate 30 at the peak. I think there's also an argument to be made that there wasn't as much money left to be sloshing around and 9/11 pushed an already bearish market down further.
