What are you playing? The winners will be games that are truely fun rather than complicated Ponzi schemes.
For me, it's ev.io. There's nothing like a fast paced fps.

Gooeys but unironically

Indont see how blockchain and gaming merges in a successful way which people actually want to play other than chinks and third worlds farming it.

And im a crypto dev. Been wondering for a while. The best i can think of is money transferable between games but then you have to have exchange rates lol. I think people would use this, but the game developers need to get a juicy sized cut otherwise they will definitely have no interesting.
You also need a way to stop people being able to bridge money in a way that will just cause inflation in the other game. I can just be able to transport money from a game A from game B one sided as its both inflationary in game B and deflationary in game A. You will destroy game economies.

Do i think there has to be some kind of limit, or trade balance mandate.

>> No.50869505

>>50869417

In other words the focus cannot be on the ability to have blockchain and transactions. It just has to be a feature that enhances. People should be able to play it and enjoy it without even knowing you can do it. This isnt the case now for any of them.

Also, the largest problem with the entire concept of what I described above is that devs have the ability to create in game money. This is the case for tokens already but with a video game its way more dynamic and that can lead to problems and theft etc. there isnt a large data source for total in game gold on any game and when you go down the road of displaying it the game changes and people will be more interested in farming gold for money as a result which isn’t good.
As you can see its a difficult problem.

The last option i can think of is just accounts. Have accounts associated with your crypto wallets which can be used on any game. Sure the game can still ban you but its just a nice way to keep track of your shit.

Problem is good games take time to make and most people have burnt out internal clocks from dopamine burnout. The current state of GameFi is too young to really pick winners and losers because they're mostly flash-game tier.

Personally I'm looking at The Runiverse as a game being made by devs who have worked on Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Far Cry 3, Rainbow 6 Siege, Batman Arkham Origins, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, etc. Most NFT projects are retarded and just using the millions they get from mint to hire game devs off Fiverr instead of just getting a professional third party studio to develop. It'll be free to play with the focus of it actually being a fun MMO with any gamefi elements being completely optional if you don't care for it.

The issue is DLT in gaming is pointless if its not going to be interacting with other services. You can do it centralised otherwise.

Maybe just data/api of in-game shit is enough. Im sure people will build interesting stuff with it as long as data is available

>> No.50869673

>>50865858
Not playing any game atm. but got my eyes on holoride and anticipating for their official launch that's coming up.

>> No.50869696

For example if data like how many of X boss is killed, total XP in a skill across accounts, or some accounts, items obtained, damage done etc is available and filterable enough to call what you want this would enable fun games to be made from the data.

You could have one MMO vs another in a third party game. It aggregates data and converts it to third game assets or attributes. Suddenly you have incentivised users to play both. You cant progress the third party game meaningfully without playing game A or B. So you have loads of people trying to increase their character in Third party game by doing stuff on game A and B, could be fun. Hell even something stupid like a race. 1000XP/event in game A and B allows those characters to do one step in game C, and its a race to the end.
This is a game people may play without even knowing DLT powers it

Correct. Current games are built by people who have no clue about game design but want to try making an interactive ponzi. Blockchain and gaming work perfectly fine when done right, just take a look at Team Fortress 2, it's literally a fucking NFT game without NFTs. You buy and sell in game items for real money on marketplaces outside of the game, and you don't have to do any of that shit if you just wanna have fun and don't give a fuck about the gamified economy.

Pretty much any good MMORPG can be perfectly overlayed with blockchain tech, every single one of them will have a black market of in game items and currency you can buy out of game. But that black market creates risk factors in safety and security, and in some cases you need to sell entire accounts instead of individual components of it. With GameFi, everything you get can be sold individually. I don't expect many games aside from the largest ones to truly adopt interoperability but you can definitely see the urge for crossovers of major IPs in games with shit like Smash Bros, Multiversus, etc.

>>50869598
Even the prospect of "if the game serves go down you can carry your shit over onto fanrun private servers" is a straight upgrade. Gachafags in particular know the pain of spending countless hours and dollars on a game only for it to get shut down and lose it all.

The game I posted already has its NFTs used in other games like Web3 and Webaverse aside from the one being made for it.

>> No.50869830

Okay so let me start by saying that I am currently contemplating building a gamefi game.

Some background on me:
- web3 dev who luckily has made a decent amount of money in the last 12 months that I can now work on whatever project I want. I have enough funds to last years without having to work ever again.

My intentions:
- I want to build a game that isn't a faggy "grind to make shekels for third worlders..." type of game that is all that I see rn in gamefi.

My intended market/thinking:
- I will NOT be building a game for faggy gamers. As everyone even ITT has already said regular games using centralized databases are always better than games with crypto build around them. I get all that but my intention is not to cater or build a game for those regular gamers. I figure there are a ton of crypto ppl who do nothing but sit on their PCs and watch charts for hours and hours. I want to build a game FOR THOSE PEOPLE! Not third world grinders trying to grind play to earn ponzis. Not steam twitter onion gamers crying about the environment on plebbit.

With all the above being said, it's clear to me the only way I can build this type of gaming for full time crypto traders who are sitting idling by as they watch charts on their second monitors is to have the game PVP only. You eat what you kill. You bring something into the game crypto related and you battle other anons. Winner takes the crypto/NFT of the other or a percentage of it at least. Obviously I would need to prevent cheating somehow, which is an issue.

I am building a slither io clone at the moment but not sure how to incorporate crypto into it for now.

Any anons have any thoughts about what I've written so far? I'm pretty serious about this.

all NFT games are a fucking copy right now. its sad because i used to enjoy them and make a quick buck out of them

Its not stable at all. I remember playing like crazy in 2005-2007. Quit playing and years later when i logged in everything was 100x more expensive and my cash pile couldn’t buy almost anything.
