This is what I keep telling people. WFH is only good if you currently have a job. If you’re trying to switch jobs, it’s going to take far longer than pre-COVID times. Every remote or hybrid job will get over 100 applicants and companies will wait for the perfect candidate. They don’t overlook certain flaws anymore. They’ve also made interviews far longer. Will work here for a year, level up by learning SQL and some other languages like Python, and then will switch to a diff role that is more high paying, like product support engineer or dev support, and will gradually learn programming then move on to become a software dev in same company (lateral shift)

Most CVs are automatically rejected without a human ever seeing them because the HR firm/roasties ask as a matter of course "what do you want in your candidate?" - even if its for entry level - certain keywords have to be hit or it goes straight in the bin. I got two twin bachelor degrees from two different universities and was working on my master's thesis. I emigrated to another country when I was 18 and by 25 could gather documentation to apply for the extension of my stay without getting a lawyer, which is quite big for me.

I did odd jobs writing essays for students and worked for an NGO but most of my living was sponsored by my mother. When she retired I was forced to get a job (and I did). Now I'm making almost twice as much as the median salary in my local area.
