In 2000 we had actual markets. Now we just have a Fed run scheme to print money to fund the government through asset market and cap gains taxes.

When they pivot (and tbf they really haven't yet) number will go right back up because it makes the paper economy look good and the government look solvent. They will not abandon asset prices to save the dollar because it will make the US fiscal crisis and hollow zombie economy both much too obvious. They will pretend to fight inflation only for a little while longer, maybe till after midterms.

Summers, Burry, Rosenberg, all the dollar and bond bulls will just have to cry about it.

Boeing factories. My workplace. Where the wheels of global logistics never stop turning. A concrete steel home of diversity hires that drives the ecommerce world and travel. If your not the laziest wagie or completely retarded this place will promote you and leave you with great responsibility. But if you work hard you can more work passed to you without getting paid more. Do you have what it takes to be the next fall guy?

When airplanes are fucked up because the skill level on the production line and QA department is fucked, people die and Boeing gets in big BIG bunch of trouble double. Well of course they were manipulated, but both up and down. It's safe with gold because such a low % take delivery most of the time so bullion banks can naked short to push the price with little risk of getting squeezed, then balance the books when sentiment is crushed, ride it back up, rinse and repeat. Easy pump and dump profits.

The main tool for overall price suppression is simply government gold leasing into paper markets to allow the derivatives to expand 100x that and fight off any attempts at making a run for the deliverable bars. Complete with rule changes and legal problems if any citizen tries to pull a Hunt Brothers. This is run out of London.

Only another sovereign can bust this scheme, but that's a currency war, which takes a while to play out. BRICS v GAE is going hot, but it'll still take a while yet for the LBMA games to wind down. Probably years. DESU levered energy bets will probly outperform gold anyways, since gold is just a proxy for energy purchasing power.

Burry seemed to think asset markets would collapse much more which they literally can't afford, in terms of tax revenue. In the end, austerity is not actually viable, and printing to fund tax shortfalls directly is too obviously currency debasement, so they will prefer to save assets with the printed cash instead to try to hide what they're really doing. Also to resume the Cantillon effect lining the pockets of the asset owning classes who run this shit pile which is a nice little side benefit.

Wouldn't surprise me if we end the year green.

There's nothing at all at stake for Boeing. No risk. They're an extension of the state and will be salvaged no matter what happens.

Not like they will face competition either. Airbus is the same. The only real competition would be Chinese manufacturers and I really doubt western regulators will allow them much entry to western markets. They'll cite safety and regulatory compliance but really it'll be about nat sec and protectionism.

Also their IT dept is excellent place to work if you want to be reasonably well paid to do basically nothing.

With the US going into open cold war with China, I really doubt that will happen on a big scale, or if it starts to happen Congress will intervene to stop it. Short term incompetence is always possible of course. After all, they shipped US manufacturing to China in the first place, so short sighted greed ran the show then and they're only now scrambling to un-fuck the situation.

Lately tho they seem more scared than greedy. CHIPs Act will not be the last bit of protectionism you will see by a long shot.

That is a good question because most people think that when you sell an option against your long option, it negates the convexity of our payout when you are trading OTM's.

Your position still benefits from convexity up to a certain point, since you are selling negative convexity (i.e. long concavity on the short position).

You sell that option to cap your gains because you are most likely not going to get a VIX moonshot, you are going to get a payout that is somewhere in the middle. As such, IV skew becomes material to your payout profile, and you want be short vega just a bit with an even further OTM call when IV decays rapidly on the options unless they catch gargantuan bids.

Another reason most people who aren't inexperienced retail monkeys put on a short option to to systemically buffer their payout profile is so they can buy more options that still profit from convexity up to a certain point, you are putting in less buying power into the long options so you can buy a crap load more.

tl;dr you are definitely still profitting off convexity on OTM long options even if you sell a further OTM option, it helps you systemically buffer against IV skew

That would only be if the US was actually headed for a civil war and a crack up. It could always happen... but IMO the big event to watch for is currency war and the dollar losing market share to the yuan or whatever the new BRICS commodity-currency ends up being, if it ever launches.

US will survive that just fine (everybody but wall street and DC better off) but that will be the end of the US-as-hegemon. It will be very inflationary. That is without even mentioning rising labor and energy costs, and the enormous government debt that needs inflation even if those things weren't factors.

TLDR: keep DCA'ing into commodities and energy for the foreseeable future. Keep some cash for any dips. Don't go full-doomer and pull out into cash or pms unless actual civil war happens (which it probly won't). It's a 4th turning, try not to worry about it.

Wait a while and learn the ropes. Futures are cruel.
>But I would like to buy low and sell higher in the future
Then just maintain more than $25k in your account to avoid FINRA locks and you're good. The super-complicated TA stuff is only really necessary if your entire game is playing in the choppiness.
>Idk how to use options as a hedge
That's what options are. They're a hedging mechanism over a certain period of time. If you think a stock is going in a particular direction, you give up some money now buy an option that will rise in value and/or allow you to purchase/sell at a desired price if the stock goes the opposite direction that you anticipate.

They're essentially insurance over time.

You can also use them for time-decaying leverage with a capped/bounded downside (i.e., the option premium), but using them for that purpose gets super duper complicated, which is why you need more than what Robinhood provides to effectively trade them. If you don't do that, you don't need it.

TDA is good enough if you're upgrading from RH

No. TDA will still have some training wheels, but IBKR is like throwing a kid on a motorcycle.
