I was trying to highlight congress being corrupt, not Ripple.
Ripple is just playing the game.

You are right about the Ethereum Alliance.
Remember that recent congressional hearing with the SEC?
Most of the congressmen attacked the SEC during it.
But the chairman of the hearing, went out of his way to shit on Ripple, and suck the SEC's dick.
He's clearly bought off by the Ethereum Foundation.

It's a war between the different factions.
Ultimately, I think Ripple is going to win the lawsuit.
Once they win, all of the relationships that Ripple has been building with politicians will bear fruit, in the form of new legislation, favorable to Ripple.
