DTC does not give shares to brokerages.. it's a fucking depository, do you even know what that is? The GameStop note uses the word allocate, not distribute, for a reason. The whole point of DTC is they hold all the shares instead of the brokerages. this has no bearing on foreign depositories which are not DTC members. Simple math on the current DRS run rate puts it just under 4 million new DRS per quarter (3 months). Which is roughly 1,333,330 per month shares added to DRS or directly purchased from ComputerShare. At run rate that equates to 47 months +/- and that's assuming interest is flat. I'd say as the % gets closer to 100%, the more FOMO you'll see with people trying to DRS. So 4 years max, probably 2-3 realistically before the real sticky situation begins.

Follow up on last thread when I said I was checking in with TDA. They have told me when I asked if they performed a stock split dividend or a regular stock split that they performed a stock split dividend specifically, and that my shares were recorded on their books. Took me a few minutes afterwards to DRS a couple of shares just to see if they were bluffing. Seems TDA is good.

So far the confirmed non-rugged brokers are Fidelity and TDA. Has anyone tried out Vanguard or god forbid RH for the lolz? I don't have accounts on them, only Fidelity and TDA. We should keep track of which brokers got dividends from the DTCC and which ones are fucked.

I remember on the day of the splivvy I was awake at 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. looking at my accounts. I wasn't awarded shares at either of those times but the price went down to post-split prices. I have watched splits before and when it happens the price and share amounts were correctly at the same time generally, but not for the splivvy. This leads me to believe that Fidelity and TDA both got actual divvy shares on the day of delivery since from my experience the only time I have waited for something to happen and wasn't immediate was for dividends...which normally I get mad at, but in this case showed an important distinction as regular splits get corrected immediately in my experience.

The fact that they received the splivvy on the day it happened and now I confirmed they indeed have the splivvy actually sheds a lot more light on this situation I think. I don't think the DTCC withheld any splivvies to american brokers potentially at all. I think their aim was purely to file it as a regular split over a stock dividend so as to prevent the SFT's from exiting, not because they wanted to "cover shorts with divvy shares." I think we can cross the using divvies to cover thesis out. My hypothesis is they wanted to simply get the filing this way to keep shorts rolling over and that their channels allowed them to distribute the divvy to american clearing houses without going over their forms (SEC regulations are lax af, not a stretch to believe they can just send w/e) but international clearing houses might have required the forms to know how to proceed since they are better than the SEC at regulating, thus international brokers never got the divvy and are catching the DTCC in the act. This is my hypothesis and explanation.

I highly doubt shorts can maintain their positions once the DTCC is removed from a custodial relationship with GME shares for brokers. The DTCC and the NSCC is 99% of the problem here, they allow the naked shorts and infinite FTDs to exist. If shorts had to borrow from actual shareholders they'd be wiped out immediately.
