I first played it a few years ago and I don't know how you can say it didn't age well because it's a fantastic game still. I think it's just a little wonky at times but overall haven't found a game with this feel since, only ones come to mind are early Fallout or Baldur's Gate ... those late 90s early 2000s rpgs. (Divinity OS series is good but not the same) Well, to each their own of course.

play original with mods, path of diablo is great, project diablo is good, pretty much any of the major mods improve it
original is still good but it's poorly balanced and some quality of life improvements make it much better, still playable though
