alright give me the straight goods without hype

is solana itself actually compromised? are your cold wallets actually at risk? or is this just a bridge hack or an issue with a particular protocol on solana rather then the chain itself?

Unofficial but most likely theory: public key + nonce allows sophisticated attackers to find private keys of any SOL holder. Can not be fixed without scrapping the whole Solana blockchain.

Official theory from Solana: unknown vulnerability with one of the popular SOL wallets

ah thanks, makes sense

well, my paranoid assumption is that the big money already knows whats up. using their contacts and insiders and information the rest of us don't have.

and if things are actually really bad they will make it seem like solana is fine and then create some good news to flood retail into the market for exit liquidity so they can leave before shit gets worse. price will go up and then down.

or if things are fine, they'll take advantage of the situation to create news to make it seem like its worse then it is so the price will crash and they can buy more cheaper. price will go down and then up.

not financial advice, just my paranoid theorizing. don't take me too seriously and then buy the bad news or sell the good news because maybe not everything is as manipulated as i think.

Would most likely be the second one as "only a few thousands wallets and 5mil" have been stolen. Yhough it would be a bad strategy if you have this type of exploit. Just spot wallets with a few thousands, even hundreds and steal like 2 or 3 per day. you could do that for years and people would thought hey have been hacked somehow

Hardware wallets hadn't been hacked
Hot wallets with 0 transactions (just receiving) had been hacked
The problem is all of solana wallets are closed source crap
