Yes, I am afraid it is. That is how the majority of humans have lived throughout the majority history, and they still do so in most places outside of North America and Western Europe. We're only seeing a problem with it due to the relative opulence our societies were recently afforded due to the historically abnormal freedom and relatively even wealth distribution of western political systems. Those systems are now rapidly becoming corrupted and dying, causing society to revert to the historical mean of a two-tiered hierarchy. Extreme "haves" and extreme "have-nots." Patricians and plebians. Lords and peasants.

Working for others made sense when you were able to provide for your family, get a house and raise your children because of said jobs, while today most people work just to be able to survive the next month.

So why work then, if it's no longer possible to get a house or have a family? Why am I spending 8-10 hours per day for someone else just to pay the rent for the next month?

The real answer is that wealth is generated by producing tangible goods, either through having the means of production in your cunt and supplying the world OR by invading other people and stealing their wealth to produce it for your people. England, and a lot of other firstie countries, do not do this anymore. Their economies are overwhelmingly service-based (consumption, not production), or finance (parasitic money shell game for richfags). Nothing of value is actually being produced, therefore no wealth is being generated. Everyone gradually gets poorer and the government shuffling around money in the form of socialist benefits cannot change this.

>> No.50714178

>>50714013
>Why?
I think you answered your own question: because you want to survive and have a roof over your head. I don't like the answer either, but there it is. Having a family and children is still possible though, even in extreme poverty. You'll just have to put the children to work instead of educating them.

>> No.50714276

>>50714146
While I'm sure it helps, I don't think you neccesarily have to invade and steal to become wealthy. Wealth can be the result of excess productivity.
Also, I agree that you certainly must have tangible goods to have real wealth. But services have value as well. The specialization and division of labor created by providing services increases productivity so that more tangible goods can be afforded.
Today, the west has certainly taken it too far towards services though. I think we've only gotten away with that this long due to our completely fake and rigged monetary and financial system.

>> No.50714460

I was reading an article the other day where the thesis is that real wealth generation happens by 3 mechanisms

1. A new process or industry or other such innovation is developed, everyone piles on, and everyone involved with this new development makes money from top to bottom
2. Industrialization: essentially point 1 but everywhere at once, everyone makes shitloads of money and society restructures itself from the ground up due to the massive injection of capital at every level
3. Invasion. Have no land or money? Take someone else's.

If it's not one of these things, you're basically spinning a fixed supply of money around in a circle because no new wealth is being created. Eventually the supply dries up because someone wins the game and scoops it all up.

The authors were arguing that the industrial revolution represented a one-time injection of capital into the economy (on a mega-macro, multigenerational timescale) and that eventually the winners would sift themselves out from the losers and a new caste system would replace the one that industrialization smashed.

This is also hurt by the way firstie countries treat higher education as the only state-approved path to "real" jobs. Especially those with universal college education. The cost of living becomes calibrated for high-earning white collar workers. What about everyone else? Get squeezed, should have tried harder in school kiddo. But not everyone is up for that kind of work, and all the job markets become oversaturated as fuck when the state shoves literally everyone into that employment pool. All this gigantic fraction of people who inevitably wash out (like 30% youth unemployment in Euro countries for example) get absolutely fucked by the inflating CoL. Basically: not everyone can become a rocket scientist, but you still need to have something for those people to do and live comfortably.

>> No.50714607

>>50714460
Yeah, I mostly agree with that thesis, at least on a per-capita basis. But I think technology etc. begets wealth because the new technology/innovation/industrialization increases productivity. Just injecting capital into something doesn't create wealth. It only creates wealth when the capital investment pays off and you get more capital out of the process than you put into it.
That's also a great point about pushing all students into college.

But, my original point wasn't really about the aggregate wealth of a population, but the distribution of it. I think the main cause of OP's complaint is the massive amount of wealth that is being taken from the former middle class and given to the upper class. The global central banking system, governments and the media are all working in concert to move real wealth up to the top 1%. Central banks create "reserves" out of thin air to prop up the value of the stocks and bonds held mostly by the rich, which also allows governments to borrow more currency into existence to distribute to their cronies, (see recent $280B handout to tech companies) which also creates more inflation that mostly hurts the lower and middle class, who don't hold the majority of their wealth in real assets which mostly keep up with the rate of inflation. Meanwhile the media cheers them all on, and tells the average people its all for their own good.

What I'm saying is that what you're feeling is basically society pricing you out of existence because the role of the wagie has been rendered unnecessary. Here in the USA, the world war generation (before the boomers even came of age) were able to buy property and support themselves on single income households quite comfortably. This was an era where the government aggressively taxed the higher earning brackets, but where did this money go? Pretty much every single social safety net in the USA, except social security, would not exist until the mid 1960s because it was all created as part of the civil rights movement. All that cash was getting dumped into the military industrial complex to establish US hegemony over the world. The average citizen was pretty much on their own, the state was not coming to help you. And yet they were living it up in comparison to us. A college degree could get paid off working summers at some bullshit job and then when you got the degree you could pretty much just walk into any job you wanted for free. You could buy a house and support a family by working in a factory somewhere. None of that is true today. What is different? Fundamentally it is because the government didn't structure society to funnel everyone into (historically extremely exclusive) white collar work as the bare minimum to be successful. Pretty much any job you could land was expected to earn enough to at least support children, even if both parents had to work. That's not how it works in the modern era where if you aren't clearing 5 figures you basically cannot afford to have kids, you have to start playing whack-a-mole with your bills and shoplift basic living necessities and shit. The minimum expectation for success has been raised so high that it's basically become 1000x easier to fail.

I do agree it's important not to lose sight of the misery and desperation hundreds of millions of people lived their lives out in recent and more distant past.
There was a golden age for parts of humanity, now we may be facing a reversal to the old regime while burdened with new problems, the technology enabling absurd control by the few, a dissolution of family, of cultures, of nations, increasingly masturbatory, futile modes of entertaining ourselves. The only reasonable thing seems to put your hopes on breakthroughs in machine learning, biotech, electronics, somehow outrunning the decay.

Stop working, collect welfare and food stamps, steal, manufacture and sell drugs, anything and everything to help push clownworld over the cliff. Society unironically owes you a loyal wife.
