Recently the car prices have been going ballistic and even used cars are over 10,000$. Does any of you know how to get a cheap used car in Canada that won't break mid road? I'm not asking for anything fancy or beautiful, I'm only asking for something that just works. As long as it doesn't break down I'm OK with it. It could be car in pic rel I don't care, as long as it works in the high way and every other road for the next couple of years without breaking.

Post your local Craigslist, give me your budget and I'll find you a car

Well I'd rather you lead me to a cool website but I'm still grateful for your help dude.
I live in Québec around Montreal. I don't care about driving long distances to reach the car seller, as long as it doesn't take days to do so.

I didn't know japanese cars were durable. I'm not a car guy so Idk about all of the ups and downs of cars. I'll look into this.

Thank you.

Look up statistics on most towed cars to pick your brand. Then find a car that is being sold because its owner cant drive anymore for whatever reason like old age, illness or death.

Inspect the car before you buy it. How fucking stupid are you people. The other fallacy you retards fall for is spending more for something recent. Well faggot, the reason the seller is offloading that 5-10 year old car is because it has a problem. I'll be zooming off in my 25 year old single owner grandpa car from a deceased estate. Yes, it was only $2000 and needs zero repairs. "Post-covid car prices" simply do not apply to me

Let CL anon help you, the only way to get a decent used car that isn't outrageously priced is private sellers right now.
Alternatively you could pick up some luxury v8 for stupid cheap right now, keep it in good shape and you can resell it for more money when the fuel prices get off the roof

You get an old Toyota or Lexus if you don't want it to fall apart
Same company, sometimes you can find good deals on old Lexus because people aren't even aware of it and people would rather drive newer luxury cars
Simple as
>t. Lexus master race

Do what that other guy said, 2000s Honda or Toyota from a white person private seller who had it maintained at the dealership. These vehicles are the pinnacle of commuter car design and cheap/simple to maintain.

Toyota Corolla
Toyota Camry
Toyota Highlander (still kinda pricey)

These 3 models was American best sellers and over 95% are still on the road today.
Plenty of parts available in any region.

I've had my 2010 corolla for about a decade now, never done work beyond oil/tire/brake changes (couldn't do them myself because i don't have the proper tools) and changing the starter and battery/alternator (did myself because it's trivial and you only need 2 wrenches). I've added over 100k miles to it with no major issues, gets 35 mpg, and still handles beautifully. Jap cars from before the late 2010s are great

>buy used car around 100k miles and make sure the engine and transmission are running well, preferably 1 owner
>give the car a tune up on basic vehicle maintenance

I'm autistic and keep a spreadsheet log with all the cost and everything done. I bought a used 2015 with 100k miles and spent roughly $3-4k on maintenance including new tires, replacing all fluids and oils, brakes, spark plugs, filters, belts and tensioner, starter, battery. And I did all the labor excluding tires.

They had a Toyota Hilux at the top of a flat before being demolished and it still runs which is a testament to their reliability.

2001 Acura 3.2CL Type S. Man she was a beauty. Zip, leather, sunroof. Only lacked space. But the aerodynamic curve of the car saved on gas. For a 3200 CC engine she could get 34mpg with the wind at my back. Into the wind was about 28mpg. She got to 180k miles before the transmission went out. $2400 to replace the gears and spacer and fix it. Drove her for another 40k miles before I sold her for $2200. 2 years later I get a letter in the mail that the car was towed on a country road after DUI arrest and the tow yard needed $500 or they would auction the car off. Legally I was the owner since the previous owner never transferred the title. I regret not paying and picking her up. She had unique dent above the passenger door where a football hit the frame. Last year in Miami at an ATM machine I swear I saw her. Same dent and all. Was pouring rain but I pulled up next to her and it looked just like her. Same dent and all, same wrinkles in car tint. Same rims. Same license plate frame.

Im happy knowing shes out there.
