Land value tax

>> No.50668398

When you speak to people about taxes you quickly realize that most people operate on this notion in their head that that once the money the government demands from people/corporations in the form of taxes gets paid, it immediately gets used for the betterment of society and that's the last time that money will ever be used in a relevant manner. This is obviously a position that cannot withstand the slightest bit of scrutiny, but most people calling for higher taxes or less methods of tax avoidance simply never dug deep enough at their own beliefs to realise this.
Once you realise that tax money is simply reintroduced into the economy through government sanctioned ways you might not be as vehement on taxing the rich or whatever. People call for people like Elon Musk to get taxed more while completely unaware that he made his fortune by government contracts and subsidies. The people at the top know that there is far more to the tax game than to simply pay as little taxes as possible, they know how to get the government to give them taxes out of a pool that not only they paid for, but also small fish like you and me.
And remember: Income tax was introduced as a way to only tax the super wealthy at first, and look where we are now.

I've said for a long time, the one thing you could get lefties and righties to agree on is that the tax code needs simplified. The only reason it's complicated is so that the fat cats can game it. If you can't afford an accountant or don't have tons of capital generating passive income you're out.

Simplify the code. Lower the rates across all brackets and simplify the code, you'll ironically get more revenue because they won't be able to use credits/deductions/offshoring/long term capital gains and whatever the fuck else.

It is really, really difficult to have a serious discussion about taxes with people who think like this, yes. They don't understand that an army of bureaucratic grifters, contract queens, welfare queens, and whoever else get their big cut of their tax money before it finally makes its way to something "useful" (maybe). Really it's an atrociously oversized grift machine.

Honestly, if I was a state admin I'd probably do the same thing. Trick these retards into handing over their money for nothing, stay a tax slave until you're 70 and get your peanuts ass social security.

The thing they don't tell you is that it's the people making $200k-1.5m in actual earned, working income paying all that tax, not the people making $10m+ per year off of passive capital income. There are different levels to being rich. There's working rich and then rich rich, rich rich evade like hell and can afford the lobbyists to keep that train going.

Many such cases! They rig the systems to protect those with the most money and then charge you for attempting to engage with those systems.

Lot of poor people are poor because they don't understand money. It only makes logical sense why they're obsessed with taxes. They think money and wealth are fixed commodities which can be hoarded.

They have a weak understanding of market bubbles and think some billionaire is actually hoarding wealth by owning 15% of an unprofitable tech company lol

This concept is strikingly true, and hard to convey to the average midwit. They think "government program" or regulation and think it's a protection for them. Not always. Sometimes it's a barrier, a weapon for people with means to use to entrench their power and status. Most monopolies in history didn't come about because of a "too free" market, they came about because one big company and the government colluded to make it so.

One thing I'll never understand is why the poor and middle class vote against their own interest by voting for rightists. I mean, at least with Ivan here we know he's forced to spread the propaganda - whether or not he actually believes it himself is irrelevant.
