i have 5 streams of income and just do my taxes on an excel spreadsheet. why the fuck would you ever pay someone to do it for you? just dont be lazy and crunch the numbers whenever the income/expense occurs

i pay because in aus if you do it yourself you have to file in October, but if you register with a tax agent they can file in May the following year. if you are going to have a large tax bill, you now have an extra seven months to benefit from extra capital. of course you don't want to do anything risky with it, but even interest you earn in a savings account/term deposit will outweigh the cost of the agent

When you make a lot of money or have a lot of assets it's basically insurance to use a professional.
It's the same as getting a lawyer.
