Consumers are capitulating, Walmart now has too much stuff to sell. Major stagflationary signal.

When inflation hits you don't buy depreciating assets. You buy things that last a lifetime, like a house, or house upgrades.
Why waste money on consumer junk when you can just fix things in your house and wait for prices on materials to go up while your money becomes worthless, but your house goes up in value due to improvements + estate appreciation.
When you can't afford buying more estate, fixing/upgrading/renovating estate is a great option to get rid of excess cash without being a complete consumerfag debtmaxxing to buy phones and cars.

Waggie here at Walmart. Just some observations:

The consumable side of the store is doing ok but the general merchandise side is completely fucked. The warehouses are making stores share the burden of having too much inventory. Part of the problem is that the items stuck on a boat last year are finally here. Last summer for example we had almost no bicycles or TVs sitting in the backroom. Now we have two times as much as we should, and people are buying less of them.

All of a sudden a lot of food and other stuff was on sale at target this week. Interesting.
Doesn't change the fact that shit is whacked and a third of the shelves are empty, but what they can seem to get in on a truck is just sitting there.
All i can say is good thing i bought a literal year's worth of peanut butter last winter, haven't seen that shit on the shelf in months.

This also pretty much sums up what I see on the floor when I go for groceries. It seems like prices are starting to mellow out.

Most of the the inflation is coming from hamstrung production, not excess money. Hence why so called bluechip like walmart is going down.
