I can’t even go out to eat and spend 5 or 10 bucks even on casual food anymore. A shitty subway sandwich is 10 bucks plus tax. If I get any sides I’m already up to 15. Every bbq place is charging $18-20 for a proper meal. That’s gonna be $400 a month if I eat out every day for lunch at work. What a fucking clown world

Im lucky a buddy of mine leases land for his
cattle so we go to do hog control and shoot as many as we can. Hunting licenses in the US are cheap and in many states hogs are considered pests so they dont have a limit or season if youre in private land. It depends on states so check your local rules about hunting hogs and if theyre considered an invasive species with no tag limit.

Since we kill as many as we can for population control I just take a cooler and we quarter them right then and there and keep on hunting. This means we dont gut them and fully clean them like you would if youre only hunting 1 animal, we just select the ones we want and cut off their front and rear quarters really fast then once Im home I work on skinning and cleaning the meat and packaging it in bags. I just watched youtube videos on butchering hogs to get an idea of what to do, how to cut off the fat and silver skin etc. For wild boar you want to make sure its fully cooked with internal temp of 145 degrees fahrenheit to kill any possible worms or diseases and check if the animal shows signs of diseases or anything.

Depending on where you live check if there's a butcher shop nearby that processes hunted game. In that case it might be easier to take them the whole animal and have them butcher it and give you all the ready cuts, but if youre going this route it might be best if you at least gut the animal in the field, unless you go to a private hunting business that offers to process the animal on site for a fee.

Gl anon if youve never hunted before maybe start with those hunting ranches where they charge you a fee but guarantee you an animal, then talk to them about hunting in public land and what they recommend. You at least know how to shoot right?

My gf and I have cut back a lot on how much we go out to eat. When we do, if it’s fast food, I try to use the restaurant app - this is pretty much necessary to get a remotely good deal. Some places are better than others. McDonald’s actually has an amazing app as far as deals and rewards go. There’s a local guy by us who sells arm-length burritos with like a half pound of meat for 8.50. Hasn’t changed the price ever, he doesn’t give a fuck about money he says. Hot dog places are typically cheap and inflation-resistant. Use birthday coupons (there’s a long list of places out there that will give you birthday rewards if your signed up for their email/rewards shit). There are ways to be frugal with eating out but it’s getting harder.

True, fries are probably a serious cash cow for mcdonalds. They are buying vegetable oil and potatoes in extreme bulk with probably a massive wholesale discount, and then a large fries is ~1 potato and a few tablespoons of oil. I would guess the potato and oil for that large fries costs them mere cents and then they sell it for around 2 dollars, which is gonna be a healthy fucking margin. Better yet, because it's just potatoes, salt, and vegetable oil, the price is probably very stable or at least easy to predict, unlike more complex menu items like burgers where there are a dozen or more ingredients that can each vary in price/availability due to all kinds of factors, supply chain disruptions among them. I would guess that fries--- along with simple menu items like soda machines--- are a relatively reliable constant in Mcdonalds' business plans and the other items are more wild cards
