Bros I would appreciate some help!

I have an interview and they gave me a little assignment.

They provide information about stocks bought/ sold in January and February

See attached. For January im taking the stock price at purchase date eg Jan 6 and and getting the gain/loss of it vs the stock price on jan 31. so eg the stock % performance is 2% as the stock price has increased by jan 3

For Feb, Do i only take the febrauary buys and do the same or do i also use the earliest purchase date (jan) to get the gain loss %

The US is trying to strangle the world economy by spiking DXY in order to crush oil demand and somehow, maybe hurt Russia a little bit. As the rest of the world enters recession and need dollars more, there will only be more selling pressure on US equities.

it won't tip because there is the same amount of mass in both sides

>> No.50501836

It will tip. Not because of the boat, of course, but because the system is in unstable balance.
The forces that affect the tip are purely dependent on a liquid pressure, and pressure is dependent on the height of the liquid above (depth). When one side slightly moves down, the liquid pressure on it increases, while the liquid pressure on the other side decreases, so the forces continue to accelerate the first side down, breaking the balance. Given that the picture shows some initial instability, the tipping and spilling the liquid is inevitable.

>U.S. fuel makers are poised to generate historic levels of cash from refining oil into gasoline and other products after fuel prices have surged nationwide.

>Valero Energy Corp., Marathon Petroleum Corp. and Phillips 66, the largest three independent refiners, are set to collectively bring in about $14 billion in cash from operations this quarter, analysts estimate, the highest combined level on record according to S&P Capital IQ data.

>The huge cash flows from their core business will translate into gargantuan profits as the companies report their results beginning next week, according to analysts. Investment bank Tudor Pickering Holt & Co. expects the largest eight independent refiners will report a 652% jump in earnings per share, on average, compared with the first quarter of the year, allowing some of these companies to log their highest returns in years.

>Exxon Mobil Corp. this month said its fuel-making profits could climb up to about $4.4 billion in the second quarter, compared with an average of $853 million in the same periods from 2017 to 2019. That was the largest single factor in the company’s forecast that earnings could be as high as about $18 billion, which would be its most lucrative quarter in at least 25 years, according to FactSet.

I have two theories about that. One is that people genuinely think Tesla is going to dominate the future of automobiles the same way Apple has with phones. To them the Tesla run up of not making money has just mostly been about them getting situated and getting a foothold in the industry, they believe in Elon and Tesla. All Elon really did was buy them time, I think it was sort of clever. Then I think there's people who think it's bullshit but will just ride the hype wave anyways because there's a lot of supporters and true believers. Which always makes making money easy. This is why you don't get too emotional. On one side you're too pessimistic about the company and see it crashing any time, on the other you're too much of a goddamn believer and will probably ride it all the way down in the end, wasting so much time and effort.

Tesla is in the S&P 500. Snap is not. That's the difference. The ONLY difference.

Elon dumped his bags on the world, and they'll carry them proudly for the next 10 years. TSLA in 2040 will still be ~$1000 per share. It will have underperformed, but it will not lose investors money in USD terms. There will be no blowup. The demand dynamics for the S&P are too powerful for that. Too many boomers passively contributing, and zoomers will follow in time.

Look how long GE is taking to implode. When a company gets that big, it can only be walked down slowly. There's too much support. Too much money to be made just floating it steady and fucking over both the call and put buyers.

One of the biggest misunderstandings is the idea that a stock is a short because its overvalued. Telsa at a P/E of 100+ is obviously a terrible bet for long term returns, but that insane valuation also allows them to "grow" essentially for free. As long as they continue to expand, even if the expansions have terrible ROI or involve overpriced acquisitions, they'll support the price. Telsa is so overvalued that a mediocre acquisition immediately improves all their financial metrics. Literally all they had to do was buy bitcoin to pump this quarter, because it offered them improvements on the revenue metric at near zero cost. Expanding into lithium mining is another way to improve metrics. Even though the whole lithium mining sector is massively overvalued itself at present - they're less overvalued than Tesla and therefore its a positive.
Perhaps someday Tesla will just outright buy a coal miner or utility provider on the basis that it gives them a full vertical in EV ownership from power gen to charging to the car itself. Objectively, an outside investor would be better off owning the coal miner today, but the Tesla investors will still benefit from the reflexive gains of an overpriced company making a cheaper priced acquisition. It takes a very long time for this dynamic to fail.

Does anyone actually know what happened with the China banking thing or is their system is so closed that we will never know? If we want to get schizo about it, could this be an external attack by the US on their system (NSA, et al) as way to deter a looming Taiwan invasion? It just seems so strange that it would happen right now although not really I guess since most economies are hurting somewhat. I've just never seen an actual explanation for what's going on there and as anyone who participates in trading knows, the first explanation is usually not the likely one. There's usually something contrarian or even underhanded going on. Thoughts?

I want to load my bags with promising companies that have a large market share of their niche segment. Like EOSE, or TBLT, or RKLB. I’m a poor gag looking for long term plays

I hate you people. I much prefer when people lose everything at once for being stupid. But when people lose everything after being up 1000%+ it pisses me off so much. Why don’t you limit yourself to how much you gamble after you make that much gains?

Bagholding AVPT warrants since last year. It's a $20 stock trading at $5 because it's a De-SPAC. If they keep meeting earnings, having positive news, and buying back shares then surely they'll have to break out one of these days...

This is unironically what will cause the big one. Slurpers just being unable to actually afford to slurp since they slurped too much. I'll just stick to the plan and keep bagging VOO and VTI with a cheeky SCHD on the side.
