How does it work? Reddit is centralized and is worth $10 billion, or was worth that much last year. If Plebbit is a serverless and adminless clone of Reddit, should the PLEB token capture this value? Where else would its value go by nature of being a decentralized project?

>> No.50495586

plebbit could be worth more

the value is not actually derived from tangible metrics its derived from the sale price between one retard and another

plebbit is a real thing?

It's an attempt by 3 developers to fix the shortcomings of Reddit. It's Reddit + IPFS + Pubsub. The web demo is very slow, but the desktop version runs nicely.

I disagree. Reddit is not listed on the stock market, therefore there's nothing to sell from one retard to another. Yet it's valued between 10 and 15 million USD. It has intrinsic value.

private companies are still sold in between retards, just privately

and there is no such thing as intrinsic value

Reddit won't have an audience soon. Do you honestly think people will use platforms that track your 'truth score' and arbitrarily ban certain words?

The ability to reach someone without getting censored is probably the most valuable thing in existence today. How do you think Biden won the election in 2020? Conservative voices were silenced and everything pro-liberal was given frontpage coverage. Why do you think the Covid-19 vaccination campaigns were so popular? Dissent from voices of reason were banished from the face of social media.

That might be true if everyone fended for themselves, but life in society means individuals adhere to certain norms, hierarchies and whatnot. Some social norms are even codified (eg. criminal code), making their interpretation not even open to debate. Regardless, life in society is not subjective. It certainly doesn't value plumbers and doctors the same. And it's not my belief that censorship-resistant social media is worth something.

How do you monetize something that is decentralized and has no administrators?

>> No.50498142

>>50497895
By emitting a token that has use-cases within the platform, I guess. These uses-cases could be tipping content, buying goods from a market place subplebbit, advertised content, etc. Let's see how the MVP release goes first.

They have no way of monetization, shitty ads just won’t do it. It’s obvious when their supposed ipo keeps getting delayed
VCs know hyper growth period is over and reddit is just a jacked up imageboard. They’ll start laying off people and get bought by verizon eventually
