Buy land where there is water. In northern Minnesota where I live I can drive a sand point well into the ground 20 feet and have crystal clear clean water from a hand pump. Out west it could be hard to get water in some areas.

I believe lake Mead drying up is a sign of dangerous over population out west and piss poor resource management by the government, which is probably intentional.

This is smart, but so long as you're close enough to a mountain spring or a mountain lake it should be fine for water.

I live in New Mexico and collect rain water along with have a pump to the aquaphor which gets me water, so water is a big deal in my mind.

I've worked in health care for a long time and have witnessed a few dozen deaths. Most were heart attacks, which can be an awful and brutal way to go. Some strokes, which at least for the observer, looks more humane but who knows how their brain was functioning and perceiving things. Saw plenty die of Covid, but at least they were fully out and my hospital very rarely called codes for them.

A quick and lucid death on the street isn't the worst way to go.
