There is a big gap between social collapse and economic collapse. It is entirely possible, if not much more probable, that we experience a serious economic collapse than we do a serious social collapse to the point where people are raiding each other. In either situation guns and gold are good investments, but in economic collapse the upside potential for precious metals is better than that of guns (according to me). I personally have both but I'm not overboard on guns, just a couple pistols, my AR-10, and a hunting rifle.
