That's a burnished proof. With the whole kit that gets pretty numi. That little W below the date gives it an additional boost. Graded and slabbed coins market at ~2400 to ~2500. What they sell for I don't know. The whole kit puts it in a comparable category.
1987 is the second year of production. 1986 coins get a huge premium but it drops off for the following year. Even so, they have added numi value over more contemporary pressings.
How generous do you want to be? Spot plus 250 would be my offer and I would consider it fair. If he were to shop around, he might get a better offer, but it would take effort.

Hit up your local plumber and mechanical repair companies. They sell their copper to the local scrap yard for 20-50% of spot. Just call the scrap yard, find out what they are offering, then call the plumbers etc and off to pay scrap yard price and you'll come haul it away.
I melt it down and sell 1 lb bars on eBay for $20 all day long. Easy 5-7 times after expenses.
Carefully though. Remember scrap yards buy clean copper. Unscrupulous shops will try to dump unstripped wire and mixed metal with copper on it to you and save their good stuff for the scrap yard so educate yourself before paying.

The military will only do its job if the currency has purchasing power. If the USD hyperinflates or dies from debt default the military is done because the government has nothing to pay them in. Glad to help. If you like selling art bars it's a pretty decent racket. Most Copper pipe is #2 quality. A little elbow grease to remove the solder and you get deoxygenated .999 pure copper. I always scotch rite my pipe before melting just to ensure there are no surface impurities then sand it pretty to a precise weight, stamp your stuff and sell on eBay.
I pay around 1.80 a lb for pure copper pipe. Spend a day removing solder and shining it up with a scotch bright pad. Burn through two tanks of propane to melt 100lbs. Spend another day cleaning and stamping and sell 100 lb bars for $20 a piece all day. I don't have my cost sheet on me but I'm in about 300 by the time it's all done. Lose another 10% on shipping and commissions which is about $200. So out of $2000 I walk away with $1500. Not bad for a weekend hobby. I could sell for more just based on competitive pricing but why get greedy. My stuff sells fast and I make good money. Let other people sit on their bars at $30 for half a year. I want my shit gone by the end of the month.

6kg propane melting furnace with graphite molds. I like the ones with a hole in the top over the sealed ones. You lose heat so you burn more propane but you can add copper to the crucible while it's melting by dropping it in the top. Less effecient but less hassle.

They kinda have, but they bought paper silver instead of physical silver. No rich guy can store 300 million oz silver at home.

That's the reason to why silver dumps because of higher interest rates; rich guys are selling their paper silver to be able to pay back their debts as quickly as they can.

If you believe SHTF hard and strong, silver has a lot of uses since it is liquid, low value and easy to barter with. But it is bulky and has a high premium.
If you don't believe SHTF nearly soon, go to gold. Easy to stack and hide away from the gub'dment's eyes; if you want to change countries you can easil conceal high value coins. On the negative side, you can't use them on day-to-day purchases and you don't want people to know you have it.

This is a gift. Literally, expecting the banks will allow monetary commodities to creep higher is retarded. The country is bankrupt, the banks are bankrupt, and the leverage in the economy poses losses in the hundreds of trillions of dollars. You can go chase 7-10% yield in a 10% inflation environment or you can take a comfy seat and wait for the collapse. Shit will hit the fan overnight and you will have zero time to react. The "silver squeeze" that emptied out physical inventories can occur simply by organic retail demand at any time and without warning. Just keep accumulating, because it only takes ONE event where losses are 80+% and you are wiped out for good, and the writing on the wall is that a major cataclysm in the global financial world is building up to.

Yes once you get back to George things spike significantly. You also have numinerd variations in much of the '50's and earlier era dollars. Small vs large beads, strap vs no strap, vanishing water lines, etc.
>Then just started grabbing them when I found them because relative to a generic 1oz (at the time) you could get a little bit more silver. Like they were under half the price of a generic 1oz but you got 60% of a Troy oz.
I also notice the tend to sell for less than generic. Bully for me as I already collect them. If anything it means my stack is low on the three nines stuff.
You used to be able to buy '67 comem mint sets in bulk at a discount. I have probably over 100 dollars face in '67 coins. Trouble with those mint sets is the smaller coins were debased to 500 fine halfway through the year so common thought is they have a chance of being less than the usual 1.11 troy ounces per. According to my sources though, all of the proof mint sets were produced in early '67 and would therefore be 800 fine.

Yeah. Some of the later stuff is either 80 or 50 so I avoid it since I can’t tell. Especially not over the internet via eBay. Friend at work has some proof sets. I don’t know what she has, but she said she looked recently and it was about £100 worth at current prices. (Probs about £90 today)

PMGBros, I have to admit I am kind of disappointed right now. I was expecting much more of a gold and silver pump with the inflation numbers. This seems very modest this morning considering how much both are down. There are months of losses that need to be made up.

Don't worry fren. You don't actually want the monetary train to completely crash as it would be a life-changing catastrophe for every single person, the rich and the poor. Even if you were prepped to the teeth, it would still be an awfully hard time for you and your loved ones. Silver and gold are like insurance against an ever more likely event of a fiat monetary collapse. The way the system is designed, the paper prices will continue to dump on silver and gold right through to the death of the fiat monetary system. Look for other indicators besides the paper price.

I just hit the motherload at a garage sale in a wealthy neighborhood. Some teen girl was sitting in her open apace lawn with dozens of boxes filled collectibles her grandfather used to have but he passed away six weeks ago. She said and I'm quoting her "all this shit has to go, we don't need any of it blocking up our guest rooms." I paid her 60$ for three full boxes of ar denarius, a sleeve of Augustus, Hadrian and Tiberius coins. There was also a bix filled with junk silver and another box with hundreds of 1988 silver rounds and early 2000's buffaloes. But what's even more there is a false bottom with over sixty ounces of gold in bars. I don't know if I should return it or just leave it alone because I feel really bad for taking a fortune away from them. The teen was a cunt but I don't know how her other family is. I just feel ashamed of myself instead if happy. He even had a armoire filled with books containing baseball cards and on one book it says "To Jimmy, have a Happy 18th birthday and remember to keep fishing". It made me tear up because this bitch potentially gave her brother's inheritance to me without a single thought. But if I return it if her parents knew what the boxes contained then I might have to be forced to return everything or go to court and I just can't afford that right now nor do I wish to go back to being poor. I simply cannot. But my heart aches for this situation.
