There's nothing wrong with spending 5-10K on a vacation as long as you get your money's worth and can afford it. Of course, if your finances are in order and you can afford it.

The problem is that most people that do this don't have their children's college tuition covered, don't own a home in the best school districts already, don't buy healthy food, don't have ample retirement savings, etc...

You should ideally not spend more than 1% of your income vacationing every year.

Now the pressing question is "Where are you going for vacation?". They will hear that question multiple times whenever they speak to a coworker, acquaintance, friend or family member. That same pressing question repeats itself throughout the year on holidays, Christmas/New Years etc. In fact on a smaller scale that question just in a slightly different form is asked after every single weekend as well, what did you do over the weekend did you go anywhere etc.
And even if you say you just chilled, that question comes again fast and suddenly you can't just keep saying chilled. Now be aware that this goes for literally EVERYTHING, in such environments you are pressured into watching the popular Netflix TV show, the latest Marvel capeshit flick, commenting on whatever latest normalfag drama events it doesn't stop.

So you basically have to constantly consume the same slop as everyone and follow the same life narrative as everyone else in order to be accepted in such environments.

Going on holiday is really fun bro, spending 5-10k on 2 weeks is an insane rip off, you can have a fantastic time for 1-2k; even cheaper if you have lots of friends overseas who can hook you up. 2020 I spent over 10k on drugs and really regretted that shit, I was in a suicidal hole so I know why I did it but now I want to spend my spending money on good equipment, like cameras or snowboards. Or travelling abroad with the missus or mates. What do you like to spend your spare cash on?

You'd be surprised how cheap you can vacation if you live in a geographically desirable area. I used to live in the Bay Area and worked near minimum wage in my teens. I would take my car which gets 40 MPG, fill the tank and drive all over. Just find a decent campground when it gets late and lay a tent. Vacationed multiple times a year with friends. More sanitary than a hotel room, and basically free.

They insisted our mom and dad hid away even more money! They were being scammed! Someone out there knew something! $3 million wasn’t enough. They torched money on attorneys, cars, clothes, vacations, swimming pools in neighborhoods where it made zero sense to get one, they financed awful “businesses” (MLM type shit), and now they have money issues.
