I had two bad experiences in Chicago back-to-back, and have never used a valet again.

A valet pulled my car up just as I stepped out of the restaraunt. I held out my hand for the keys (amazed at their responsiveness), only to see the valet put the key back into the lock-box. They were joyriding.
A valet dented my car. They made me get a lawyer to get re-compensed for the damage.
