Hey /biz/ bros. I was retarded and got my bachelor's degree in political science which has been completely fucking useless, so I'm thinking about going back to school to earn my MBA and switch into a finance or accounting career, but I want to be sure it's worth it. Could anons with MBAs answer a couple of questions for me?
>what made you want to do it? what did you specialize in, and what job did you hope to get after?
>did it help you as much as you wanted/expected?
>was it worth it financially?
>did you actually learn anything useful or are you basically just paying for a piece of paper?
also, what's the best way to study for the GMAT?

>what made you want to do it?
My company told me its the best way to get a guaranteed promotion.
>what did you specialize in
Marketing/Data Analytics dual concentration
>what job did you hope to get after?
Portfolio manager / director of product
>did it help you as much as you wanted/expected? was it worth it financially?
Don't know yet, I'm only halfway through. But going from my engineering bachelor's to an engineering masters did wonders for my pay. So I'm assuming a second masters will also help my pay significantly.
>did you actually learn anything useful or are you basically just paying for a piece of paper?
So far just the paper, but meme tier business roles get paid more than engineering roles now so who cares? Course work is easy, but you're surrounded by midwit psuedo-intellectuals.

"Learn anything"

Finance and economics are pseudoscientific make believe garbage, capitalism is inherently unstable, exploitative and unsustainable with a built in expiration date. All finance assets like money, crypto, debt, bonds etc are purely parasitic in nature and serve no purpose nor have any inherent value and private property is theft. Ever escalating recessions, poverty, disease, pollution, slavery and wars are fundamental and necessary functions of it and every single financier or crypto dudebro is a literal parasite.

You quit political science to get an actual garbage degree lmao. The only way to save this is to either quit or combine econ with your politcal degree

but if my bachelor's is in political science and I only have a few credits from an accounting class, there's no way I could get hired without getting another degree in accounting, right? so I would have to choose between getting another bachelors and getting an MBA, and if the cost and time required is similar, then shouldn't I do the MBA? or is there some other path I should take that I'm not seeing?

if you want to work as an accountant you can do a masters in accounting. usually these are cheaper per credit hour since MBAs are normie scam degrees that are marked up even higher than masters degrees in general. many schools will admit non-accounting students to the masters program if you take remedial coursework. my undergrad was in math and i did a 1.5 year masters in accounting.

if you want to take the CPA (or you want to be eligible to take the CPA so you can lie to public accounting firms or other employers about your interest in taking the CPA) then you need to meet the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in your state. you'll have to google this, because it's state specific, but generally it's 150 credit hours total and 20-30 credits of your 150 credits must be in accounting or accounting-related fields like business law, business data analytics, etc.

I never went to college, but all of my friends did.
They spend all of their money paying back student loans. I spend my money buying assets.

Do with that information what you will.

Yes I still work for the same company full-time and part-time student. Company pays for full tuition so long as I make B's or higher. I only "pay" for books (everything is on libgen) and other materials.

It's easy as fuck and I'm a lazy motherfucker. I specialized in management but I have a natural talent for analysis. I hoped to get a job where I work for 2 hours and shitpost for the other 6

>>did it help you as much as you wanted/expected?
Yes, I get paid 100k to send pivot tables to people and play video games at home

>>was it worth it financially?
Yes. I went to state college so zero debt

>>did you actually learn anything useful or are you basically just paying for a piece of paper?
Yes, I learned that the majority of people are retards and how to tard rangle them in a professional setting. I also learned all the manipulation tactics that higher ups try to uses to placate the plebs

Don't fucking do it anon, there are a million better ways to waste 200k+ than on tuition and lost income

MBAs if you haven't already made it are the most jewish thing on gods green earth. You're taking out a massive loan with mr sheklestein for opportunity to pay mr sheklestein back. You force yourself to wage for a minimum of 5 years before you see any roi and during that time you'll be eating shit because quitting or getting fired will bankrupt you.

You become a perfect wagie - a white collar slave - trapped in debt with no real assets, no bargaining power.

All the while you've lined the pockets of Mr S, HR roasties and the administrators of colleges that jacked up the price of an mba to 6figs+

Accounting is only worth it if you can get into B4

If you go for it then just get a cheap one like from LSU for $12k. Focus on trying to break into tech for product management by getting a 6 sigma or NPDP cert. Congrats you make between $90-115k starting. Up to $170-200k starting if you break into FAANGM. It's only stupid if you don't actually use it. Like I said above, meme business roles like product management pay way more for way less work than a masters in mechanical engineering will get you today.

t. $55k for BSME, $75k for MSME, but $120k base $140k tc working as product manager for a major hvac firm.

Now all I do is pretend to work, fill an occasional excel spreadsheet, and sit in zoom meetings that don't actually need me there.

Go if you can get into the top 20 to maybe 25 schools. Don’t waste your time otherwise.

Consider consulting as a post MBA position, McKinsey Bain and BCG will comp your MBA if you intern with them etc.

Take some accounting classes and get either a second bachelor's or a masters in it. The nice thing is that since you already have a bachelor's you'll graduate with 150 units so you'll be eligible to sit for the CPA exam. Its boring as shit but I'm making $29/hr as an intern and I'm not even finished with my undergrad yet. Finance degrees are a meme unless you go to a top school/have connections.
