For American coins, I would like to get a tube of uncirc'd Peace dollars. 22 and 23 are still out there. I notice the prices go up, but they don't go down. I don't think I'm going to get to finish my O mintmark Morgan collection unless I get particularly lucky.
If anyone's looking for numis to hold, Peace dollars are probably the way to go. You can get good quality graded common coins for good prices that wont last.
Once your grade goes above 64 on a Morgan (or peace) the prices get silly quickly.

Just spent some time browsing graded Morgan dollars on the web at small, independent coin shops. I was able to find some high graded coins in the 65 and up area for around 100 to 150 for regular minted coins.
Above that price, unless you're particularly autistic or have money to burn, I start looking at cheapies again with fresh eyes.
Of note; defunct grading companies often sell for lower prices.

IMHO, yes.
- When a new series of artful or themed bullion (especially coins) comes out, the first of the series are usually missed by later collectors. They will pay high premiums to fill in the series. Ponder the potential for series popularity: generic and/or cringeworthy-themed series have higher failure rates.
- Interesting coins cost least while they're still being minted. Once the mintage stops and dealers run out of stock the prices jump, then rise more slowly but still faster than generic silver.
