It's for legally scamming people. This was a few years back but there was a new article about a dude who's in-laws were coming to visit, so he rented them a luxury hotel room and paid with bitcoin, in-laws hated the hotel and wanted to go somewhere and the hotel staff told the guy they literally had no idea how to return his bitcoin. IIRC he never get the coin back.
