You could have real energy independence if you built the real infrastructure for it first. Biden was such a fucking retard he had an EV convention to give out money and didn't bother inviting Tesla so he pissed off Elon Musk in the process. Fucking dumbass applauded companies like Ford, GM, and all those other fucks that pretty much halted production and competition of electric vehicles in the first place. You can say what you want about Tesla but they are at least building the infrastructure needed to make this happen. It's all so tiresome.

This article is denouncing the idea as virtually physically impossible (maybe lithium ion to todays standards would be better than this proposal though, honestly not sure)
>What about cost? At today’s price for lead, $2.50/kg, the national battery would cost $13 trillion in lead alone, and perhaps double this to fashion the raw materials into a battery.

>But even then, we aren’t done: batteries are good for only so many cycles (roughly 1000, depending on depth of discharge), so the national battery would require a rotating service schedule to recycle each part once every 5 years or so. This servicing would be a massive, expensive, and never-ending undertaking.

On another note, when do we crash? The market keeps crabbing, this isn't sustainable right? At some point the market makers are just going to throw in the towel right? I would have thought the acceleration was already here with reverse repos spiking but we still ended green on Friday even with all indicators showing a recession imminent (albiet not as badly as after close).
I was hoping for a few green days to get in a "safe" position to reload on puts.
I sold my COIN puts at the weekly low and with Voyager now joining Celcius in the tits-up crypto lending sphere It's looking like another good short.

From 1650 -1913, half of years were deflationary and half were inflationary.
Since 1913 only 12 years have been deflationary and most of those were in the great depression.

The fed will not reverse 100 years of policy. They must print money to sustain positive interest rates. Raising them higher just increases the amount of money they must print to sustain them, by printing up front to artificially lower coupon, or eventually printing to pay off the higher interest.

Nah, in 2008 the situation was similar but not as fucked. Everyone knew the economy was heading to the shitter but they did the same thing that is happening now.
>spent a year denying a recession is coming
>recession officially here after 2 quarters of negative growth
>2009 oops looks like we are in a recession after all
>spend 2 years printing money under Obama's bail out program TARP that arguably slowed down the pace of the recovery
>slowly approaching around bottom before 2012 when things begin looking up again and we are out of the slump
I mean I guess it comes as no surprise that Biden's presidency is pretty much a repeat of Obama's considering they have the same staff for their administrations except now we got way more than just a housing bubble about to burst...

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

noob to investing here...

i have withdrawn 1mm from crypto and i want to just put it into VTI and forget about it

from what i understand VTI is VOO (SP500) but with small and mid marketcap stocks.

question: how are these small and mid marketcap stocks chosen? are there guidelines for them making it into the index in the same way there are guidelines for them making it into VOO (publicly traded company with market cap larger than the 500th company)? what are the guidelines for the small/midcaps in VTI? are they handpicked or do they also use some similar guidelines (if marketcap >x then voo, if marketcap >y then midcap vti, if marketcap >z then smallcap vti)?

>> No.50144472

>>50144325
They're not "chosen" per se, VTI just follows the CRSP total index. the index has every stock in it. sp500 accounts for about 85% of the market cap of the NYSE, and the rest is the Russell mid cap and small cap. you can probably google what constitutes a stock in Russell mid cap vs small cap. at the end of the day, VTI vs VOO is not a big issue, i would recommend VTI as does Vanguard themselves, more diversification, less dispersion. small cap companies outperform VOO components all the times, when you expose yourself to the small and midcap companies you gain exposure to different styles and factors that can increase risk adjusted returns.
