It was while it was ath of $370-$400 and told him its probably best to wait a bit or to buy ETH instead, but he was like "I can afford to lose it and want to try this out, I just won't sell at a loss like you've said to do." I think he ended up buying around 2pm cst, so not quite ath. Probably about at $350.

Normies are definitely a driving force for LTC and I don't think it is gonna just suddenly stop after such a bull run like we've had the past few days.

LTC usually follows BTC, though it may take a while to do so.
I recommend converting to BTC for the night while it's still low. If it breaks the 17250 sell wall, there will be a huge rise. People FOMOing into BTC would then drain money out of altcoins. If BTC falls further, then alts will fall again.
