I've decided to save money by dumpster diving. So far this week I took leftover food from work 3 times, but I'm obviously going to have to step it up. Restaurants are forced by law to throw away perfectly good food. I'll start there and see how it goes. How has your experience with dumpster diving been, /biz/? Any tips? Suggestions?

Housing and food costs the most. I loved homeless in spain and Switzerland. I took a shit in Rothschild country. Anyway, you can save a lot if you live on a cardboard box and eat leftovers. Cola is basically zero. At the barest living (basic living and food), cola was 20$ (10 for hostel and 10 for dood

Dumpster diving is going to save you almost no money at all, considering that a cabbage, some chicken, and bulk dried food off the internet costs 20 dollars a week max. This is only 1000 dollars a year in food. If dumpster diving reduced your costs to 0, you would only be saving 1000 dollars.
You should therefore only dumpster dive if you can find good stuff (Sealed frozen meals thrown out in the winter, overstock unexpired goods thrown out at luxury/high end grocers, free herbs and plants that you can re-pot) and have a love of the sport itself.
You would make far more money either working on some kind of entrepreneurial side project, or doing some kind of menial side hustle like waiting tables/bartending/delivering food.

You could also move back in with your parents, host guests on your floor via airbnb, sublet your own apartment, etc, since housing is the most expensive living cost. If you were really insane, you could live in a homeless shelter and sublet your own house/apartment.

Have you seen all the weirdos that live there? It’s absolutely depressing. I’d rather be outside.

I'm bald so I went to my local dog grooming store and just took some hair out of their dumpster and made a toupee for myself. I've noticed a lot more women looking at me when I'm wearing it. They're usually laughing but I'm pretty sure that's just because they're so happy about how awesome my new hair looks and they want me to do sex with them

he's almost better just setting up a couple of tables and growing some food in an indoor garden. plus alot of places also have dickhead tiny ball managers that spray the stuff down with chemicals cuz they detest hobos and homeless trying to eat.

No. Make your own food. Beans and barley/wheat cost $1/pound. Chicken costs $2 per pound, even at whole foods/trader joes. Cabbage, carrots, and celery cost $2 per pound. If 15 pounds of food per week is still too little for you (only true if you are bulking for bodybuilding), you could supplement by drinking healthy oils, I suppose.

If you are curious, here is a pic related of what 1 regular haul might look like in the winter. For obvious reasons I never ate anything that couldn't be cooked or wasn't sealed. You will end up with weird quantities of weird things, like a whole palette of green olive jars, 5 near expiration sealed tubs of cottage cheese, near expiration artisanal yogurts, potatoes that are just starting to sprout, etc.

Oh, and restaurants are horrible places to dumpster dive because they actually have a high ratio of food byproducts to edible food. You would be touching trash bins full of nasty tissues, rotten carcass shavings/bones, fish heads, guts, beer residue, cooking oil, etc.
Like I said above, the best locations are small farmers grocers, and high-end grocers that sell expensive goods. These places will throw away edible/cookable food early/often, and often don't have giant trash compactors like big box grocers have. The best times are a few hours after closing, and the day after trash day (so everything is brand new/day of). I'd also recommend only going in the winter/fall.

Nah, small scale gardening, especially indoor, is generally unprofitable unless you are doing specialist horticulture (heirloom collectible plants, bonsai, weed, potted herbs for retail sale). A good LED grow light alone will cost you about 100 dollars up front.

If you learn how to fast, you can halve your cola in half. Then all you really need to do is find a decent place to stay. Staying a couple blocks off the main road is best. Find a good car board box, flatten it out, and you’re good to go. Also the country side is awesome with scenery and freedom, but gets lonely after a while. It’s weird how I craved just even seeing another person after a while. After a few weeks alone, just seeing someone with tits was delicious.

I do it most of the yearvexceot for summer because it’s too hot than. Would recommend it. The wife and I live on less than 400 bucks a year. And how we live.
I feasted on banana chips all winter, barbecue my way through summer and our pantry is always filled to the brim.

Then you turn around and make threads about being homeless and dumpster diving and it's always eastern European trash posting the shit.

Basically scout all supermarkets on bike. Find to containers. Don’t break locks. But climbing over a fence is ok.
Search container. Profit. Most containers are fenced in or locked, but 1/10 is worth it
