I rummage though other peoples garbage every day and iphones, tablets, etc are always being thrown into the non-recycling which ends up in landfill or incinerated. Although they only contain a small amount of gold each, the sheer amount of phones being thrown away across the world must account for a not insignificant amount of gold. How much gold is being destroyed every day vs how much being newly mined?

Even in an incinerator that gold is going somewhere, it can be melted but not destroyed, my guess is people working at those places are well aware of this and are collecting the gold that comes out of Incinerators.

My portfolio is looking pretty shitty. I am going to just hold and wait because the price will move higher eventually. If I were to buy any mining stocks I would stick to majors personally. As the more risky assets, I want to sell my more speculative positions at some point. The hard part is knowing that the price will move higher in tandem with higher metal prices. So I am not sure about where a good place to move the profits will be. Ideally, I need to buy a house and have a debt I can pay off easier.

I agree. The threat of rising oil prices and the suppressed silver price are a bad combination. History shows that mining stocks can be a great investment if you own them at the right time like in 1960. However, being that we are on the cusp of major economic upheavel, they can be very dangerous assets to own. Commodities are going to be hoarded and command a much higher purchasing price once all of the "value" of bogus financial assets take a haircut. I say this all the time, but Mexico being the largest owner of silver mines, I wouldn't be surprised if we start hearing saber rattling against the drug cartels as a precursor to grab some Mexican territory if they even think about commanding a higher silver price. All Putin has to do is offer to buy silver at $50 an ounce and shit could get ugly real quick. This is a matter of national security that our whole financial system is on the cusp of implosion unless inputs such as raw materials, labor, and oil are cheap.
I keep very shallow positions in a lot of these mining companies. I stay very well diversified because I think the risk is worth it. Overall I am extremely pessimistic and prefer to just buy physical assets. The way this seems to be playing out makes me think the system is actually broken and a lot of the shit we think we own is just not going to exist. Ponzi style.

no, Marx merely points out that with metal money the speed of the economy is limited by how fast you can move the physical metal around. therefore paper money is likely to appear, initially gold backed. I forget whether he talks about fiat, that may be before his time. he certainly talks about finance, primarily in vol 3 of Capital, which I have not yet read
Marx and marxists aren't pro or anti this form of money or the other. money capital takes whatever form is useful for reproducing capital at that moment. I believe Marx predicts the aufhebung of the money form, that money would eventually play out its role, should a sufficiently advanced mode of production come along, that mode of production being communism. so far this obviously hasn't happened

not really. or, it depends on who you're talking about. there are those who are careless with language, for example Leninists who consider any country with a Leninist party in power to be "socialist". I think this is needlessly confusing, since for example China is obviously not socialist even if they have socialists/communists in power. one thing all marxists have in common however is that they are materialists rather than idealists. this sets them apart from say neoclassical economists. all the classical economists (Smith, Ricardo, Marx) were materialists
the form that means of payment take in a hypothetical transitionary period is known as the remuneration problem. typically labour vouchers are proposed, which are personal and do not circulate. Marx proposes this in his critique of the Gotha programme. if such a scheme is implemented poorly then some good will serve as money, for example bottles of vodka in the USSR

The beautiful cathedrals, the ancient architecture etc are only possible if resources and manpower are not wasted.
Think about how many great minds are wasted, such as engineers, chemists etc who go to work for a company like Coca Cola. Sure, they make a paycheck, but doing what exactly? If we all focused on 'productive work' and not just earning a paycheck then we would literally be working 20 hour work weeks and have all of the nice things we want and then some. People earning dividends are consuming without working. People who move money around on wallstreet consume without working. It's all a fraud.

I cannot believe the fucking absolute state of clownworld. I can't think of a single metric by which we are not in decline.

> Everybody works absurd hours for corporations they hate, but no one can afford a home
> Everyone lives in an apartment owned by some conglomerate like Black Rock or an absentee slumlord
> Everyone in debt. Even if you could afford college, it's a marxist cult anyway
> No one can even afford to have children, population in terminal decline, Europe rapidly disappearing as a society
> We now build statues for and weep over killers and rapists
> Children as young as 6 or 7 have depression, teenagers mutilate themselves regularly to the media's glowing praise
> No one with any social or political authority can define the word "woman"
> Major cities are regularly burned in riots, no one cares
> US elects endless series of populists based on who can lie the loudest, the quickest, haven't elected a proper intellectual in maybe 100 years
> The faithful are mocked, but celebrities and superheroes require praise and devotion
> Music mostly consists of the autotuned mumblings of invalids fried by childhood prescriptions to Xanax
> Nothing is beautiful, nothing is sacred, nothing is true, nothing is permanent

My fear isn't the collapse of society; it's that society will continue on via momentum so that I will not see a collapse and renewal in my lifetime

it is better to have copper pipes, copper wire, or any coins from any country past a certain date that has a high percentage of copper content
I would highly advise against melting copper yourself and then trying to sell it, as it is better to have copper scrap like wire and pips in their current state rather than alter them, as they are less trustworthy to potential buyers

stacking is just about sticking to your monthly commitment. I'm not convinced it matters that much exactly what you stack. Refiners or bullion dealers will buy whatever you have.It doesn't matter if it's bars, bullion coins, numismatics, jewelry, etc. Gold and silver can be sold easily so long as they are authentic.

People on youtube have weird ideas about how gold and silver will be used as barter in the future and that's why you need junk silver, but the reality is that your buyer of gold and silver is either a refiner or a bullion dealer. They'll take whatever you have.

Pic related is my summer daily wear. I've been avoiding bullion bars and coins in 2022 to focus on my wearable PM stack. Pretty much everything i've gotten is within 10% of spot.

i'm lucky. My canada post delivery person is a white swedish looking woman that delivers everything to my building's front desk person with no hassles. The only ones that scare me are the final mile delivery people for international ebay orders -- they use a delivery team called "ravenforce" that are known for leaving packages OUTSIDE apartments, but i just pay the concierge of my building to watch for the driver and grab the package as soon as he sees the truck arrive. Haven't had problems so far luckily.

depends on what country you are. I'm in canada and our situation is:

1. No gold reserves
2. No exports other than natural resources
3. huge corruption
4. Easily 30% of our population is on welfare
5. Huge deficits.
6. Huge housing bubble that is pushing people to just give up and get on welfare so they can have a subsidized apartment rather than slave away to pay for the same size apartment by working while having nothing else to show for it.
7. Our government is going along with the Environmental/sustainability goals that will further kill our economy, pushing more people on welfare, increasing defits, and making inflation further increase.

Canada doesn't have the same benefit that America has with a reserve currency. We're a giant jamaica tier banana republic where half the population is on drugs, on welfare, or otherwise extracting money from the state. It will NOT last long term and i predict major inflation in canada within the next decade, which is why i buy so much gold.

Someone else had mentioned Cs as being on the list, and I thought it would be interesting to see what the actual list was, and the language around it. I worked for a state gov't and the Federal Register was something I'd need to refer to on rare occasion for my work (unrelated to minerals). Mostly the FR is just rules. It's not the actual research so there isn't much for background to 'understand' per se.

Hand piled rocks walls, just over a kilometer long, around 9 meters tall, and 15m wide, all pulled from the creek bed and stacked neatly into a buttress that the crew would live on. Pic related, the hand piles go all the way up the left slope of the creek, almost 100m above the creek in places, the layer of rocks is in places a meter thick. All that material was washed / worked by hand, these are older than similar walls done by crews of men with hydraulic cannons. The work must have been unimaginable.

>unimaginable.
Indeed, I was having a hard time imagining as I was reading. Fascinating. So when you say "worked," you mean they really altered some geography. I'm astonished you still find anything.

to put it in perspective, the modern valley / gulch bottom is probably 30m lower than it would have been before it was mined. It was first worked by guys with simple wood sluices by hand, than probably in the 1920s by chinese with hydraulic cannons that just demolished the slopes. These men made geography. And yet with all the work they did, they still left me plenty of places to work by hand or with machine soon (hopefully) as their claim boundaries were so small back than. A man with a shovel can move a hill, a man with a monitor cannon will move mountains.

It's absolutely insane, since yesterday we are now officially with a spot price below the AISC for primary silver miners. Miners selling their silver at spot are doing it at a loss as of today.
This is how ridiculous the whole situation is. I'm dumbfounded and speechless.

Of course you can expect most of primary silver miners to go under if the situation last for a while.

Thats a buy signal If I saw one. I need more time, tell them to hold out until november so I can try to get another 100oz.

How long do you think silver miners can hold out before they start to go under?

Depends on each individual case, how much dry powder they have left. The more they have, the longer they can afford to stockpile what they currently are mining, hoping for selling at a better price later on this year.
Usually, the larger their operations, the more cash reserves they have.
Neumeyer did this back in march-april 2020 when it dumped to stupid levels, and it paid of for him. But back then the barrel of oil was $40, so the operating costs were MUCH lower. Now at $110? Not sure he can continue to mine for very long, especially since First Majestic have one of the highest extraction costs among big miners (AISC around $21 for Q1 of this year...).

The juniors are gonna get rekt if they can't raise more funds, so expect some drastic (((dilutions))) incoming.
This is a re-run of summer 2018, kikes are going HARD after silber, they are flexing on us. This is nothing more than a display of absolute dominance, which make me think they are afraid.

I already bought on this months pay check thinking the g7 russia thing would drive the metals price up. Now i want to buy more but cannot. Oh well, atleast i bought a good amount this month

So when do you think would be a good time to buy junior miners? I'm thinking if these low Prices continue for a couple of months there will be good money to be made on them. Do you agree or do you think it'll be too risky? I'll start saving some cash to my investment account for this scenario. I can still reevaluate later.

Ive been buying coins but comparatively its far less metal than just buying in bulk. Id like to get more merc dimes but for the price I would only get 12oz vs 20oz buying bulk generic.
If things are going to get worse then Id like to go big, that way I can at least have a large sum at the ready while Ive already got a decent stack of smaller denominations.

Very risky, but yeah, most juniors are gonna be on fire sale (already are for a lot of them). If this (((situation))) last for several months tho, you can kiss goodbye to a lot of juniors and your money will go poof. I wouldn't take this risk in the current environment, especially when the physical counterpart is also on fire sale and will be increasingly rarer as more miners go under.
It will be a textbook case of
>look at us, we are the miners now
for the stackers, and arbitrage will favor the ones with metals in hand.
