Why weren't you buying Bitcoin in the early 2010s? What were you doing instead that was more important than having life changing money?

I was at uni and bought some for £30 each and bought mdma with it. Why would I buy digital coins for anything else when I had a credit card that could do the same? If I was older and wiser and knew how shitty the government was I’d have held some. Also had about 0.1 stolen by the fbi when they closed down one of the DNMs. It was nothing at the time so I didn’t really care. Sucks but what can you do.

I knew about bitcoin from reading slashdot
It seemed superficially just like paypal but more volatile
>it like WoW gold but there is no game?
Friend that played mmorpgs
>we cant use that in our country for weed, how would you force retards to pay you $5 online just for a baggy its too much hassle
Friend that was into weed
>I would make an online bookies like William Hill
Me
>why dont you mine it with your new computer instead of the folding@home thing you do
Friend that was into 3d modelling

After like more than a decade you get over it and copium helps to forget it all.
And on top of it the pirate party was asking donations in bitcoin in 2011 and I had a big leaflet from joining with their address and directions how to buy and donate.

Bought and sold drugs. Would've been nice if one of you told me I was spending potentially millions of dollars to make 3k over a summer.
In hindsight I bought high and sold low AGAIN.

didnt know it existed.
funny thing is i remember playing need for speed world back then and thinking, man, wouldnt it be cool if i could somehow turn game points into real money?
so i started searching for things like "internet money" but i didnt get any results related to btc.
i also was playing fps games but no one in the forums or in game chats ever mentioned btc.
it was years later that i watched max keiser shilling btc like there was no tomorrow.
as soon as i heard about it i tried to buy with a credit card but the only way to buy was passing kyc in bitstamp or paying a huge premium on virwox.
since i have no utilities bills to my name i had to photoshop one, kek.
ended up buying the 2014 top.

yes same thing happened to me, i was around that age, a year older, tried to convince my father to buy. he had already lost his business from the recession so he didn't want to take any risk. we were virtually homeless after, which is understandable some wouldn't want to take another risk. fortunately he now after all this time has gotten into crypto but it was hard to convince.

Almost everyone you meet has a story about how they heard about bitcoin early and was so close to buying it or mining it but then [insert excuse].

Most people who had an internet connection read about it at some point, but most people thought it was a scam and ignored it. They are just too embarrassed to say that now

I basically thought it was going to self implode up until the covid crash.

I remember thinking $1,000 was crazy. I remember thinking $15,000-20,000 on the next bubble had to be the very most inflated it could possibly get.

When all markets collapsed and bitcoin still had a 5k USD value, it finally clicked that "Oh, its genuinely not going to go away is it." and then I started actually researching and learning and trying to understand why it had not yet collapsed.

Turns out it isn't going to collapse. Pretty neat.

turning 300k into fucking Amazon is certainly not that easy to do. There are millions of people who have gotten 100-500k from their parents to start a business with and I'd wager that less than 0.1% on them turned that into a multi billion $ company.

You don't buy pms to make a profit. You buy pms in case the currency your country uses fails and you need to get the fuck out or roll the pms into another currency. Case in point Brazil. I hold a lot in pms and don't give a fuck about spot price. I use my other money to invest and make money. The pms are there as a net so I know no matter how bad I fuck up I won't go to 0.
