No. First they'll patent state proofs making them the only chain to have them. Second it allows nodes to operate without storing full history which means they ca. Have enormous block size without congestion.

Yes, the universe of being yet another L2 for Ethereum, but one that doesn't run on the EVM so you can’t port all the apps already written for ETH. Algorand is DOA.

That doesn't really matter to be honest, they are probably not "building" anything other than NFTs to sell to fans. Killer apps like foundational DeFi stuff (futures trading, options trading, prediction markets, oracles, stable coins, etc. etc.) are all on ETH and ETH L2s.
>>49989304
Comparison doesn't work because ETH is software and is constantly improving. The merge will happen, zk rollups will happen, sharding will happen, it's just a matter of time really. The network effects are such that 90%+ of developers are on ETH/solidity.

>Byzantine consensus. Byzantine agreement protocols have been used to replicate a service across a small group of servers, such as in PBFT [15]. Follow-on work has shown how to make Byzantine fault tolerance perform well and scale to dozens of servers [1, 17, 33]. One downside of Byzan- tine fault tolerance protocols used in this setting is that they require a fixed set of servers to be determined ahead of time; allowing anyone to join the set of servers would open up the protocols to Sybil attacks. These protocols also do not scale to the large number of users targeted by Algorand. BA⋆ is a Byzantine consensus protocol that does not rely on a fixed set of servers, which avoids the possibility of targeted attacks on well-known servers. By weighing users according to their currency balance, BA⋆ allows users to join the cryptocur- rency without risking Sybil attacks, as long as the fraction of the money held by honest users is at least a constant greater than 2/3. BA⋆’s design also allows it to scale to many users (e.g., 500,000 shown in our evaluation) using VRFs to fairly select a random committee.

Why the hell is Humble so slow compared to the other dexes? I thought Chris Swenor was the goat of Algorand devs

>> No.50011179

their ecosystem is fucking shit and they barely allocate any funds to improve it

i’m gonna stick with Hedera simply because HBAR foundation actually allocates some funds towards expanding the ecosystem. And when i say “some funds” i mean half a billion dollars

I think it’s because they’re using a single node to read through most users’ wallets, as well as the front end’s data requests being unoptimized. They’ve been working to make everything beefier in that respect, but if you want requests for on-chain info to be really fast you can always run your own archival node and enter its info into the wallet settings on Humble : )

Damn thanks for that. It's actually pretty cool that you can do that, but I'm too retarded to set that up. It's really not that bad, I've just been spoiled with some of the other dapps on Algo

Who needs a foundation when Borderless Capital, Arrington XRP, and several other reputable institutions are dishing out hundreds of millions of dollars to anyone who wants to build on Algorand? https://www.algorand.com/about/our-partners

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/11/30/borderless-capital-launches-500m-algorand-focused-fund/?outputType=amp

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/06/10/arrington-capital-launches-100m-algorand-ecosystem-fund/?outputType=amp

The Algorand Foundation also gives out grants to basically anyone who genuinely wants to build on Algorand: https://algorand.foundation/grants-program/grant-awardees

Check out their supagrants too: https://algorand.foundation/news/10-million-evm-compatibility-grant

If you’re going to talk about something like this, take a few minutes to do some research.

The fact that so much of this thread is dumb, uneducated FUD and HBAR spam is extremely bullish for ALGO, $100 by 2030 easy.

I'd be a millionaire many times over and that's without factoring in governance rewards and accumulating. $100+ is honestly possible though in my opinion. The potential for Algorand is insane.

I'm with you, and we'd only need to match current Tesla mc. With enough global hype and application that is not even remotely absurd. Say the entire stock market gets tokenized and traded on a 100% uptime chain with the fastest finality; tesla's MC would be a drop in the bucket. Unfortunately, these are only dreams and what comes into being is most certainly less exciting and modest. Contrary to Musk's philosophy on things trending towards novel, I believe things trend to the derivative. So imagine the most boring modest outcome of the crypto space and that's probably where we'll be; still largely un-adopted, random shitcoins in top 10 mc, BTC plateauing at 120k and becoming the reserve currency even though its not traded at layer 1 ever, Algo overtakes ETH as ETH2 is realized by institutions to be a pipe dream because re-architecting software is extremely hard, but forever remains behind btc and isnt used outside of institutions, startups and the self banked as the masses trade btc on our network in custodial wallets because we can't expect everyone to figure out how maintain a secret key. Very modest but good returns in the long run, high probability we see 45$ before 2030 so can't complain.

The C3 protocol is a great example of this. All the actual market computations are native to Algorand, the commands just come from Ethereum. State Proofs are kind of like a mini rollup, but just for your transaction. When you buy an ALGO call on Ethereum, you send funds to an Ethereum smart contract, a state proof is sent to Algorand describing the order and the amount, and the position is sent from Algorand back to Ethereum in the form of another state proof. This should hopefully all happen in a minute.
