I told her a couple days ago that for the relationship to work we have to share a dream. She says she wants to live closer to a city. I can't afford that. You want to live your dream of not working and only gardening find someone who can do that. My dream is similar, but we will not find common ground there. I told her so. Apparently her husband passed away 10 years ago and left her with 4 reels of vintage pornography (60s and 70s) that was professionally produced. She was going to flea market it, but I offered to look into the value of it for her. Is there a collector's market for this sort of thing? Film reels aren't exactly common these days, and it's such a niche item it might have some value. Probably not.

I openly think it's awesome some politicians have seized on that and are running on a platform specifically designed to root it out. This just shows how micro-manage-y the Fed is about the economy... which is possibly a problem on it's own... but they want to avoid a crash. They want a soft landing. They can see MBS market taking a beating, but they know if it crashes suddenly, that will spread to the rest of the economy. MBS market is still going down, but the Fed is just doing what it can to the descent relatively gradual.
>>49960757
Again... they're really trying to get a soft landing. Jerome likes to say that his only tool is interest rates, but in reality those are just the biggest and bluntest tool he has. They can buy/sell fine tune the effect on different markets... and it seems right now they're worried about MBS. Doesn't mean you shouldn't take Jerome seriously

>Here’s how it works: When Treasury securities reach their maturity date, they are paid off by the government; mortgage-backed securities are paid off by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. [St. Louis Fed Deputy Director of Research David] Wheelock explained that the Fed had “been going out in the market and replacing those securities with purchases of other securities so as to keep the balance sheet constant. And the idea of unwinding the balance sheet is simply stopping the replacement of securities that mature.”
>To ensure a gradual decline in the balance sheet, the monthly amounts of securities that were allowed to mature and not be replaced were capped, and amounts above the cap would be reinvested and left on the balance sheet.

https://www.stlouisfed.org/open-vault/2019/july/what-is-quantitative-tightening

they have a cap on how many debt securities they let run off the portfolio, if they go over that amount they reinvest them, they arent dumping bonds indiscriminately(thats bad), theyre letting a certain amount(30 billion) of the bonds on the balance sheet fully mature and they get paid out, if they go over that amount they replace them(buy) a new one. so the balance sheet is going down, at a controlled gradual pace, relax niggas

Here's the chart for CHPT, which I have been following for a few weeks. The yellow dots are from big plays from two weeks ago. The current contracts from today are in that same ballpark.
Basically, it looks like they're straddling the top of the channel, expecting it to drop down over the next week. I have high confidence in that, but it's not a guarantee of course. Also note that the plays are all before earnings - the smart money doesn't want to play ERs, too unpredictable.
The first yellow dot were calls sold for 16.00 strike - CHPT closed at 15.46 today. The MACD and STC seem to show an upward trend, while the RSI indicates that it is neither overbought or oversold. But we also just had several green days, so a red day or two will basically force it to stay in the channel (which it also didn't break out of this time, like a few candles briefly did)

Anyways, I'm rambling, but this is the kinda shit I look at in addition to the flow itself

Fair warning, I prefer individual companies because they're more prone to insider information and interesting movements. Indexes are more affected by policy and shit and I don't have a good bearing on that. It's also highly liquid which means there are TONS of daily contracts on it.

Having said that:
>Previously bounced on the 100MA support before falling through
>Below 50, 100, 200 MA
>50MA (green) is a soft resistance
>start of an upward trend on MACD, while STC implies a general downward trend, eg we'll get short term gains followed by a general downtrend
>RSI is neutral
Fib retracements usually have 0.5 as a key level. The high of this trend was 420, the low of this trend was 360. You can see that today's candle brushed against the 0.5. It might open green Monday, but will likely shit itself all week.

Here's the flow and I'm not entirely sure how to interpret it. This is strictly numbers, but sites like UW or OptionStrat will detect transactions across multiple exchanges and figure out what strategy/spread was used. Very cool stuff.

Looking at it from a naked eye, Monday has about $120m in premium on ITM calls, and about $54m in premium on OTM puts. These are opposite sentiments for price action, though more people seem to be betting on the price going down.

I don't have enough conviction to play it either way, but for fun I'll say the SPY has a price target of 376-383 on Monday.

So June 28th and July 18th will be days to watch out for

Not really. You only buy weeklies when you expect a massive move in some direction. You aren't guaranteed a bounce after a deep red day and at the weekly time frame if you're wrong there isn't any room to recover. Buy/sell around earnings and FOMC if you wanna play the weekly lotto tickets.

could this work on ordinarily volatile securities though, maybe something like TSLA or TQQQ/SQQQ? something with expected wild swings, but then again it'd be priced in on the premiums even on down days... hmm i do hear you

this is a NATURAL GAS shortage, you fucking moron. russia has absolutely been exporting far less natural gas this year; they've been continually reducing supply and it's not too unlikely that they won't pump anything at all anymore after the maintenance week on july 11th. germany is rightfully ringing the alarm.

There’s definitely a shortage, but all this talk of Germany collapsing is nonsense they will just pay a higher price to secure gas from somebody else. The entity who loses in this situation is whoever can afford to out bid Germany

i always find delta is higher 180dte+, i seem to get shitty fills on letf options i've had better luck just shares outright on those, sqqq calls do well for these gap downs but when the crab or meltup comes back they don't move as much.
>vix so high
better off just playing spy weeklies then you don't have to look at greeks at all just need to practice trading off volume and s/r

you can't simply "pay a higher price to secure gas from somebody else". gas is exported via pipelines, and almost all those pipelines lead to russia, which isn't just reducing supply for germany, but all of europe.
the only serious alternative is LNG. but germany does not have any LNG terminals yet, and LNG capacities in general are far too low to replace russian pipeline supply.
the gas issue might be fine in two or three years, but if russia cuts the supply now, there's some big trouble ahead.

Get a feel for what vol typically is for a given chart type you see. Use that as your baseline for determining if an option is over/under priced. All the other greeks are relatively fixed given the strike + expiry, but IV is the most variable. I'm sure there's a study you can apply to your chart that shows IV variablity over time, but you gotta get good at spotting thwen the IV will start ramping up (or down if you short) to get the best prices.

i should also mention that robert habeck (the finance + energy minister who is ringing the alarm) was the co-leader of the greens, and he's already talking about ramping up coal supply to help alleviate the issue.
this is the first time that the greens are in power at the state level. there's literally nothing worse for them in terms of voter optics than ramping up coal production, but clearly they feel the issue to be bad enough that they're willing to sacrifice the very goals of their party that people who vote the greens vote for.

spxs is my go to over sqqq, idk i'm married to spy it's really a gift to supplement income as i wage slave at night. it's all about the volume though over any other indicators you like. this pump will probably continue but looking at the decline in daily volume seems it's still exhausted and just getting pumped by gamma from institutions unwinding puts/shorts. idk i don't start throwing real money around until i see volume pick up over daily average.

Is math a psychotic invention or do psychotic people just tend to gravitate towards math? I was trying to make the argument that only recently has math become a weapon against people, but then I realized we’ve been using it to launch catapults for a pretty long time, and build houses and count gold before that. But I think the argument can still be made that without conquest math might not be a concept of much use, so there’s an argument for both it being a nuetral concept coopted for psychotic purposes, or a psychotic concept created by psychotic purposes.
Faggots who don’t believe war and subjugation are implicit evils to overcome need not apply to this conversation.

wouldn't SQQQ be more volatile given its following the NASDAQ (100 securities) compared to the S&P 500 (500)?

since my timeframe is ultra short term just taking advance of swings, i see the ATR for SQQQ to be about 5 whereas i see ATR for SPXS at 1.92 -- wouldn't a higher ATR mean greater predictable daily fluctuations?
