As a poorfag i still treat myself to some nice cheese now and again instead of just the bricks of processed cheese. Give your local based cheeseman a visit even if you can only afford 100grams of good cheese its worth it. And he will be ready to offer suggestions on the right cheese for you.

I hate being in countries without a cheese culture. Before I go anywhere I see if they have a local cheesemonger in town. If they don't it's not worth going. Central Europe for example - they have NO idea about cheese but there is an excellent little cheesemonger in Prague which means it's a city of culture worth visiting. Good rule of thumb you cant go wrong with
