Landlord here. My renters who moved in 5 months ago, felt so stable living in my house that they actually did some free renovation for “””their””” home, new carpet flooring, new tiles in the kitchen, it’s really cute of them. Tomorrow I’m letting them know they need to find a place cause my plans changed. I’ll rent it to someone else for 20% higher rent. Anyone else using rentoids like the losers they are?

My parents rented houses my entire life. During this time, they would rarely if ever raise the rent and very minors amounts assuming the tenant was good. If you abolish or cap rent, it creates a temporary easing effect for the city population due to supply/demand rebalancing. People will be much happier and better off, except the landlords of course - they lose everything.
Long term, the infrastructure goes to shit because most of the 'wealth' is built up over that long term investment, maintenance, etc which won't exist in a communist style approach to shelter.

Plenty of examples of communist decay throughout modern history. There is one successful example of partially government managed property though: Singapore, where they sell 99 year leases instead of direct land ownership to avoid the problem of long term speculative appreciation.

Value of housing is proportional to supply/demand so while some may hoard for speculation, most landlord owners would simply sell their property to avoid taxes, knowing they can no longer generate income.
Realistically though, abolishing rent would likely be paired with policy that just gives current rental residents direct ownership, and perhaps some small payout to the original owner.

That'd definitely be a possibility if they simply banned rent without providing ownership to the current residents. However, that would then flow into more competition for wages among high earners and less competition for low earners, and over time it should kind of balance out.
In a way, that's no different than what goes on today, with rent.

It's a pretty complex question. When you change one aspect of the economy it can have huge ripples. Think about how much the economy got fucked during covid lockdowns (and still fucked today) when we paid people not to work.
