Ngl my house really did have cardboard on it. Fake wood paneling cardboard put up over two textured walls to hide the texture. I just left it and painted it rather than deal with what's behind it. Also has foam "wood" trim with a film over it that is a picture of wood. It got a cheap update by the guy who inherited it before I bought it. I still had to make it nicer because it looked like shit still. I am still using low end materials like plastic floors and cardboard interior doors. On my forever home it will get real solid materials. This is just my starter home.

Before. Compressed paper floors. Cardboard wall paneling. Foam wood. Left some of the foam wood up but used real wood for the baseboards because you could kick the foam ones and dent them or hear them snap. I haven't seen that foam wood on the market recently. May have died. No one believes I have foam wood.

I live in Florida most houses are made of concrete blocks because of hurricanes. I have no fucking clue why tornado alley houses are made of wood.
I was looking at ICF recently, and it's not even that much more expensive than building out of wood. The outside walls aren't the expensive part of building a house. I saw an article that some places are even building with ICF now because of the increased wood prices.

No its actually very quiet for a burger house. Thats because it's in a small town and I have 3 lots with other vacant lots others own so its like a mini acreage. It would be loud in a city because of the construction which is typical for homes here. Wood stick stuctuture over a cement block and I beam foundation clad in plywood and plastic.

Its a stomp brush texture on the ceiling skim coat. It was a thing they did a lot of back then. It's not a paint finish. The actual skim coat of mud over the ceiling drywall has that texture.
