Imagine being in the forums in 2011, when people where trying to convince each other to get a bitcoin for 11,

and then someone tells you it costs 100 bucks.

people back then may have had thousands.

it could mean 100 bucks would give them 100,000 dollars

now you know even at 20 dollars a lot sold

people are morons

never believe humans

they know nothing

this is pure appreciation, it does not factor in S&P dividends (which commodity miners can generate but bitcoin miners cannot)
>but today's bitcoin price is 20,700
did you sell today? you don't own part of a business, you don't have earnings to retain much less pay a dividend, but you aren't holding a material good with utility outside its exchange value critical for spaceflight, some medical tech, and that wealthy people want to show off
you have a digital beanie baby that wealthy people create "funds" for to sell it to you for a commission while promising 9% APY

Crypto probably will go up again. Not because I believe in it, but just because Crypto is a new asset with which you can make money. So the only thing that matters is that enough people will return with confidence that the price will go up. And months/years later it will crash again and then the same cycle repeats. And in contrast to other commodities this is even more likely, because Crypto has no real worth which can be somewhat objectively estimated, which results in insane pumps and dumps.

>> No.49845640

You can't do anything with crypto. It's all a bubble. It's original appeal was decentralization; now, the moment you withdraw, you're hit with capital gains tax.

Pointless.

Actually the use case is clear as day. We're now in a world where fiat currencies are weaponized and entire countries are shut off from traditional banking. Crypto lets them trade crossborder freely. And no they won't announce they're doing it, that's king of the point

>> No.49845980

Obviously.
But you are smart not to have btc.
It's a commie ditch digging operation with no utility at all.
There are investments that will pan out but you have to find something that is fast, cheap, and secure.
BTC misses on two of those and offers literally nothing at all in the way of "smart money."
It's basically a psyop to get ahead of the actual value "crypto" can offer.

No spoonfeeding newfags. But I will say, don't let BTC stand for the entirety of the space because it's literally the worst thing that exists.

Great, and the moment I withdraw it, what happens? Government gets their hands in it, right? Just like fiat?

I still believe in BTC, but the pump was retarded and happened way to quickly due to a combination of newly formed free time (lockdowns) and stimulus checks. That is why the drop was harsh, but as I said, I still believe in it.

>> No.49847173

>>49846017
The government can get their hands on anything, it's simply easier to get their hands on fiat by just closing your bank account. Physical fiat erodes and is printed infnitely and physical goods are harder to manage and store properly especially if you're not a multi millionaire. I believe in the value of BTC simply because of PoW, the power exerted to produce satoshi, it's as simple as that. If technology and the internet suddenly dissapeared, then you'd have more to worry about your BTC being good, you'll most likely be dead already.

The dollar is headed for hyperinflation all the signs are there. Next year, they will be printing more money and the cycle will repeat til the dollar is worthless then it will be a switch over to cbdc's.

Yes, money is relative. If a loaf of bread costs $500 then $100k makes you destitute.

If a loaf of bread costs a half penny, then $1000 makes you extremely rich. I fail to see the humour behind this mechanism
