Tulips have intrinsic value whereas bitcoin is worth nothing.

Cellar dwellers and attic addicts will want bitcoin. Prices will be driven up (and down) simply because they can, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Bitcoin has intrinsic value in my mind.

right but the end-game for tulips was that nobody wanted them in a timely enough fashion at very high prices. so even though they were actually worth pennies, they went from a tulip wholesaler to a buyer for 1000x their value, and only because that buyer thought they would sell them for more than that.
it's the same with bitcoin, you see. every story about "digital gold" and such has been repudiated or ignored or just left by the wayside, however you like to think about it. no one wants to price anything in BTC and they now know they never will -- they want "their" dollars back. more than they had before.
but over time, that's not what will be happening. i mean sure, the tulips would rot and die, but you could also just go plant them. it was entirely up to you.
these people can keep their private keys, and their blockchain, and the install of the network node software. they can look at their hashes and see the runs of zeroes. these things never rot, never die.
what's it worth?
