You know why this works? Because everyone is drawing the same fibs, everyone is doing the same lines, etc.. People use this as the standard and set their stop losses, etc... some can try to manipulate this but if enough people decide to buy at a certain point, it will happen. It's more of a collective unconscious than anything.

Bollinger bands can be used to look for reversal zones because like all indicators essentially they are marking fib levels. The 50 moving average is the .5 fib level, the 20 marks the .236 so on and so forth. A 200 in the 15 min time frame is the 50 in the 1h time frame etc. The reason it can be used as a "momentum indicator" as this mouth breather stated is because if it breaks through that level of the bands it means it went past a .5/50 moving average in some time frame meaning it is likely to go all the way to the .5 in the next higher time frame

btw the reason this is significant is because of what this anon said >>49820801. It is about human psychology. When people see they can get something for half price, they generally will buy it. If they lose 50% of their investment, they will generally want to cut their losses. The way you avoid buy tops is to wait to buy in at a 50 moving average, many other people are also smart enough to do this (unlike the idiots on this board) therefore when you hit these moving averages is when you see reversals
