Now that the dust has settled and crypto hodlers are hanging from a rope (at least those who could still afford it), what makes money money?

A few centuries ago money notes were essentially receipts that banks would issue to clients in exchange of precious metals (for safekeeping). So money was backed by something that had at least some degree of use outside the monetary context (eg. silverware, water purification, later electronics and space exploration, etc.). With this in mind, what use does crypto have outside its monetary scope? I don't see it crypto bros

But fungibility is directly related to its monetary nature. It has no uses outside transacting monetarily.
