>The chances of silver returning as backing to the currency is relatively small......because the central banks of the world have been doing a pretty good job of controlling inflation. But there’s always a chance that we have a problem. We had a big problem 10 years ago in 2008. We had the Great Recession, which brought us to the brink of financial collapse, and silver quadrupled in value between 2008 and 2011.

Lads, have a look of the blurring of brass mans bars serials, look at the "Melter Assayer Stamp" Now check underneath it and how far to the left the blurring has to go, now check the position of the serial in this pic of a real bar.

The serial on a real bar fits perfectly under the Melter Assayer stamp while on brass mans bars the blurring has to go further out to cover the serial.

It's not how much fiat muh silver can buy, it's how much silver my fiat can buy. There is a reason it's called the Gold Standard.

Yo give you an example in your scenario the new gsr would be 20-1 and I would immediately turn a lot of silver into gold, essentially quadrupling my gold stack. The only time my my money wouldnt be in pm is when I am exchanging it into fiat to specifically make a large purchase such as land or a house.
That's a the beauty of PMs. It's very easy to convert to spendable fiat but not so easy that you can spend it on impulse purchases so you only spend your money on important shit.

><<>>< WHY SILVER? ><<>><

>Historically Undervalued
Gold and silver exist in the Earth at about a 1:16 ratio, and this is the ratio they traded at for all of history. However, today these metals are extracted at a ratio of 1:8, but their price ratio has been as high as 1:80! This indicates that, historically speaking, silver is extremely undervalued relative to gold.

>Industrial Need
Silver is used in thousands of technological, industrial, and even medical applications. In fact, it is the second most patented material in the world, just after crude oil.

>Supply and Demand
As silver is used industrially, it is transformed into a form that is not economically feasible to recycle. Because of this, we say it is consumed, and that the supply of silver is continually drained. Not only that, but the world's silver mining output has slowed in recent years. Most silver is mined as a byproduct of base metals, and as demand for base metals decreases, the new supply of silver is also reduced. For these reasons, silver is considered an "endangered element," just like helium.

>Market Manipulation
JP Morgan was once forced to pay a $1,000,000,000 fine after being caught rigging the silver market. They continue to do so, but having friends in low places protects them from being truly held to account. As explained above, silver and gold are coupled in a price ratio, though this ratio is somewhat elastic. The goal of market manipulation is to suppress the price of gold as a means to suppress reported figures for inflation, but the gold market is slow and heavy. Silver is much easier to manipulate, and is therefore suppressed directly in order to drag gold down with it. By suppressing reported figures of inflation, the Treasury is enabled to borrow money at lower interest rates, buying more time before the government is forced to default on its debt or resort to hyperinflating the currency.

All this means that silver has greater potential for gains than gold.

>What is the point in tracking GSR?
Wow, really? Ok. Guess school is in session. I'll start at square one since I don't know what you know
GSR, or Gold Silver Ratio, is simply the short hand way of saying how much gold your silver can buy.
When GSR is high, like now at 84-1 it will take 84 ozs of silver to buy 1 oz of gold. When the GSR is low like say, 20-1 that means it will only take 20 ozs of silver to buy 1 oz of gold.
Got that? Good, moving on.
The first thing you got to do is fix your thinking. Stop thinking about everything in terms of fiat. Think about it in terms of gold. I.E. how much gold would X buy. The second you do that things start making much more sense in the world and you'll notice that gold has, for the most part, been able to buy the same amount of shit during all recorded history. How much gold it took to buy a cow 1000 years ago is almost exactly how much gold it takes to buy a cow now.
Now that you have fixed your thinking. Consider the gar again. When you do you realize silver is the only thing that gold can't really peg down. It's the only commodity that not only decouples from gold, it does it with predictable regularity when not specifically regulated.
You can prove this to yourself because the GSR is the longest tracked ratio in human history. Ever since we started collecting this two shiny rocks we have tracked how much gold silver would by.
Any time you have a predictable swing in value between to easily tradable commodities you have an opportunity for arbitrage.
By tracking the GSR you get a reliable way to grow your stack without burning fiat AND you know which of the shinies you should by.
>Is silver cheap right now? (1oz of gold will buy alot silver) then buy silver.
>Is silver expensive right now? (1oz of gold will only by a little silver) then buy gold.
This is why you track GSR. It grows your stack, let's you know what to buy far better than tracking fiat price ever could and fixes your financial thinking.

I realize most penny stackers do it for relaxation or to create art, but for those who are stacking for profit here's how that will go...
A pre-1982 penny is 95% Cu and 5% Zn.
At the current price of $4.43/lb for Cu, a 3.11 gram penny is worth 2.88 cents.
Wow! Three times the return on your investment!
So let's get "rich" - say, end up with $1,000 in Cu?
You would need 34,690 pennies, weighing 107.89 kg.
So for every 237.9 lbs of pennies you clear $694 in profit.

Going to sell them on ebay? They take 12% (or 13% now?) of the sale price. So $611 in profit.
Unless it's pickup, you're going to have to ship it. Somebody is going to pay that. If you charge for shipping, buyers will want a lower price for the pennies. If you pay shipping, that mass will quickly eat what's left.

Going to melt it yourself? You kind of have to - a Commercial company won't do it for you. It's illegal, and they have better things to do than risk their business and freedom for the sake of pandering to a little boy's dreams. The bars you create will return the most profit. But you need to buy or make the furnace, fuel, molds, handling equipment, and have the time and space to work with the stuff.

It's a curious hobby, but to get serious about it is hard work for low yield and high risk. I just don't believe you're serious about doing this for real, at least after a first go at it. But I suspect you'll end up with buckets of pennies that will sit in the garage for the rest of your life.

And just for kicks and giggles, it's illegal to melt pennies for profit on its melt value.

2.009x2.25=4.52

Okay, let's examine that scenario. If you take every Dollar in existence and divide it by all the above ground gold, you get a Dollar To Gold Ratio of $14,070 per ounce of gold. If the gold to silver ratio then corrects to its historical value of 1:16, which is what has happened every time in history there's been a monetary crisis, then the projected price of silver would be $879.
If you take these projected values and divide them by gold and silver's current prices of $1849.90 and $21.93, then gold's price will have risen by 760% and silver's price will have risen by 4,002%.
In short, silver has over five times more upside than gold in this scenario.
>But the ratio won't snap back like that!
Then it would be the first time in history. If you really want to bet on that, then I think I have far better chances than you do.

So I'd take it that many of yoou anons wouldn't say that 10 95% copper cents would not be able to buy a milf bj as a 90% disme would so...
would I go by the current spot price of copper and silver or the value of each coin?
So lemme say I go by the spots of ~3 cents per 98% penny, ~$1.57 per 90% disme, would that mean I wold need about 52 or 53 pennies to get a milf bj?
or by spot price, 25 cents per one ounce copper, ~$21.90 per one ounce silver, would be about 87 or 88 ounces of copper to equal one ounce of silver
3.11 grams per penny,95% copper, is about 2.799 grams of copper, which is about 0.09873 ounces
we already know one 90% disme is about 0.07234 troy ounces
so that would mean one 90% disme would need 6.2935 ounces of copper, or around 63 or 64 pennies to be of equivalent value
So which method should I use when paying for milf bj using 95% copper anons?

You aren't really thinking about things very much anon I'd say
There are quite a bit more normies who "own" gold and silver but are clueless as to their value
though I would agree, stackers are less lightly to fail for such bait, there are plenty who are simply too clueless and don't know anything about silver or gold
>Mostly Inheritors are the gullible ones who had grandpas or parents that knew about silver or gold but passed it onto clueless children who haven't a clue
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deHp7xcW_2U
This vid is about a shop owner who buys normies' inherited coins all the time
So if you are a coin shop owner or have a business that purchases silver or gold, you are the one normies are likely to sell to in exchange for fiat anyhow

Yes exactly
which is why they are easy pickens for any opportunistic stacker
the only real issue is how fast they sell their inherited precious metals/how long they keep onto them until they are about to get rid of them
Plus current stackers like those who lurk here on /pmg/ aren't immortal anon
who knows if an accident might happen to any one of us or an Old anon might keel over, and then our stacks are given to whoever legally is entitled to them, not every stacker's family or friends are stackers like they are, or even know the value of precious metals
I for one am a bit concerned about my current family who sees precious metals as a gimmick/weirdo hobby and think a silver quarter is worth only 25 cents and wouldn't bat an eye on spending it using face value, and etc.
Just something to think about really. Not saying you are in such a scenario, maybe you educate your family and they listen, but not every family listens desu

high metal value and highly sought after, so usually quite ridiculous.
3 Mark usually go for 20€s when their metal content is 15 grams of silver or around 9€s,
5 Mark go for almost double their spot price of around 16€s because they have 25 grams. I only have a single one of them and overpaid dearly.
10 and 20 Mark goes for 10-20% premium on eBay, metal value is ~200 and 400€ and you usually pay 250/500 respectively, depending on how rare the dude is.
Definitely go for Wilhelm II./Preussen if you shoot for them, that's the highest mintage I know of and the silver content is the same across all of them anyways.

And no, we don’t currently live in a modernist society, we live in post modernism.) nazi society, or your some other kike modernist believer. “European traditionalism” is how things were before World War I. It would be better to live in a world that was nothing like what happened in 1914, than any post war modernist society. “Return to tradition” as “fash wave” says, is to return to Imperialist societies that were dominant before the 1920s.

agree. There's only so long a currency can go when it isn't actually used by anyone.

Something nobody ever says is: low prices of bitcoin will boost exports of bitcoin denominated assets. This is similar to how a country's exports can be boosted by having a weak currency. China intentionally kept their currency weak to boost exports.

What Is obvious is that the exchange rate of a currency doesn't matter if nobody uses it for anything. Nobody actually uses bitcoin to buy stuff and sell stuff.

Why do even educated people keep their savings denominated in a country that nobody actually needs or uses? It's like keeping your savings in Turkish Lira -- Turkey doesn't export anything so nobody needs their money and thus their currency is worthless.

Nobody actually needs to use bitcoin for payments so why would you hold onto a junk currency?

It's going to zero.

>When GSR is high, like now at 84-1 it will take 84 ozs of silver to buy 1 oz of gold. When the GSR is low like say, 20-1 that means it will only take 20 ozs of silver to buy 1 oz of gold.
Something just occurred to me with the GSR, it only takes into account spot and not the premiums being stacked on right now, and what's available to me (or what I want to get). We know the spot price is manipulated, and the increasing premiums is more reflective of the real price of PMs. So shouldn't be be using numbers of what we can actually get PM at for a sort of real GSR?

I just looked at the cheapest place I can get Gold Maples (in CAD) $2513 to their Silver Maple $37.56, that a GSR of 66.9. Other place with cheapest sovereign silver I can find, Silver Britannia $37.35 to Gold Britannia $2562, GRS of 68.6; their Gold Maples to Silver Maples GRS 66.7. The cheapest Gold to Silver I can get/find Gold Maple (above) $2513, Silver Britannia (bulk discount) $36.70, GSR of 68.5.

My point is GSR spot is telling us 84.8 right now, but for what I can get/find with all costs added in, it's more like ~67 to 68 GSR for me; shouldn't that be more accurate of what I should use for my decision making as that's what I can actually get?

First yes, you have to take premiums into account. Second stop buying shit with high premiums if you are playing GSR.
You want highly recognizable silver rounds that are mass produced like buffalos so you pay a small premium, and when selling gold do it yourself on eBay so you get the premium. I mean just how much gold are you trying to move? For most people it's less than 10 oz. That easy to sell in 1 coin batches. Just put your price slightly under the norm and it will move.
For silver I buy and sell at the dealer. Yeah I take a hot but for volume it's worth not dealing with the hassle.
Also stop buying high premium gold. Get rand's. Lowest price over spot, highly recognizable so super quick to sell etc.
Stop trying to get the fancy stuff.
You want boring old metal. Not collector items.

>> No.49804624

>>49803774
Gold Maples $2513 CAD I listed is the cheapest I can find, Golf Buffalo is like $2627 right now where I am. I actually buy Gold Britannias for more at $2546 (of course I was buying when everything lower priced, these are just the prices right now, and they stay relative to each other) because of it's security features which are obvious by looking at it.

As for the silver, in Canada there's capital gains exemption for sovereign coins only, so if silver spot goes up by as much as everyone is expecting, I'd get screwed by silver rounds. It just so happens Silver Britannias is the cheapest sovereign coin right now here, last year was the silver maples. Silver Krugs were more expensive than Silver Britannias. Gold Krugs are impure, in Canada anything that is not pure gets taxed like 12%.
