Evening Frens. I read that the Fed raised interest rates by another 75 BPS (+0.75%). In the long run these rate hikes are for the better. When debt is not cheap like the past decade and a half it means that businesses utilizing corporate debt must be more fiscally responsible. That can lead to shakeouts. Since debt has been so cheap for so long many businesses have not needed to be so responsible as in the past. We are surely about to see a number of trees fall from the canopy to the forest floor and in time their places will be taken by new trees that grow that were once under their shadow. This is how capitalism is supposed to be. Luckily for us GME is not overly leveraged. However, as of Q1 it no longer is sitting on a positive net cash flow. We all know that its cash reserves have been spent on reinvesting into the company in order to transform it. Part of how we know this is in how the Board is compensated with shares rather than cash. Let's hope that it will be money well spent. I have not lost faith and I hope you do not either.

Think of it like this: stocks have fluctuating prices based on the buyers and sellers i.e. the market. They begin with a nominal value when issued but once set loose that goes out the window. Bonds are the same. They are issued in denominations like $1k, $10k, $1M, etc with a particular yield. Yields and price fluctuate in relation to each other. When bonds are issued they are set loose upon the market starting with auctions. They need buyers in order to enter the bond market. It's sort of like an IPO. However, the USD is the global reserve currency. The Federal Reserve prints those dollars into existence. The US Treasury issues bonds that are bought by the Fed. The Fed then turns around and tries to sell those bonds on the market - the auction. Buyers will try to get the best yields for the best prices but US Treasuries are in a unique spot in that their yields set the standard for all other yields. Thus the Fed can manipulate that price by setting it at some level.
