Is inflation really only 8,6%? i feel like prices raised a lot more than that.

>> No.49667480

>>49667438

You are not wrong, the inflation metric is lagging almost all actual in-store and at-market prices, along with producer price pressure.

>> No.49667501

Consumer staple stuff is up more but stuff you don't need is down which lowers the basket.

>> No.49667517

drove through texas late 2020 and saw gas at $1.69. 8.6% is disingenuous.

The basket of good they use to calculate inflation changes so they can massage the numbers to fit the government's agenda.

>> No.49667578

Inflation is only around 8-9%. Prices have gone up more on many items because of price gouging by corporations. Many corporations have come out and said they will raise prices until the consumer stops buying. Of course these price gouging corporations have excuses like shipping costs, product scarcity, worker shortages, covid,,l ect. They are lying though. The fact that these corporations are making record profits is proof.

>> No.49667635

>>49667578

This is not correct. Producer price inflation is much higher than inflation seen by consumers so if anything the corporations are taking a hit and consumers are getting off cheap. Producer price inflation is over 30% but CPI is less than 10%. The difference is absorbed by worse margins for corporations.
You are spreading objectively false information. You are either retarded or a victim of propaganda.

The BLS uses flawed methodology to pretend inflation is lower than it actually is.. they use retarded shit like”substitution” ..you will eat chicken rather than stake and eudonivs ‘Excuse spelling] basically if the tv car or computer you buy has more features they reduce its cost ..also they have this bullshit rent calculation where instead of measuring real rents they ask property owners what they would rent property to themselves for ..no BS ..all this is approved and encouraged by the FED
The real inflation rate is 15%+ measured by Shadow stats who use the actual cpi calculation from 70s pic related ..THE GOVERNMENT LIES

You are a lying shill. Corporate are so fucking high due to price gouging the government is working on bills to tax them at a higher rate when their profits get excessive. The news has been full articles about theses record profits since the beginning of the pandemic. In short you are a liar trying to cover for corporate greed.

CPI is a meme-metric since it accounts for substitutions even when they're not equivalent. So if something, let's say cornflakes, goes up 10% in value, but Kirkland Value Corn Cereal goes up only 8% then CPI takes the 8 and throws away the 10. Even if the previous basket had Cornflakes in it

yesterday i realized that the price of starbucks 28 oz dark roast coffee went up 33%. from $15 a bag in december 2021 to $20 a bag today, at walmart. my overall grocery bill has increased by about that much. yet the BLS/CPI maintains that food away from home inflation is "only" 10-11%. honk honk.
