lmao it's in the ground in uganda, retard. allegedly. it still costs money to get it out, then mint it. people have to want stuff for prices to go up and production to happen, that's always going to be true.
all this does is put a cap on prices after they're done reacting to inflation, which they are not.
first, the money supply increases, then ALL prices move, and as they do, only hard commodities are safe. even the MINERS themselves will often fail during rampant price increases because they cannot calculate the near and immediate future.
that's the whole point. ignoring changes in the money supply, when prices crash businesses simply pull back activity and invest instead of create and sustain jobs. while it sucks to be out of work, earning 20% on your savings is just as good. if the economy was just healthy, and the businesses were just healthy, you know they'll hire again soon.
but when prices skyrocket, any job will do for you and the rest of the plebs, but the real problem is that businesses are unable to forecast yet must keep operating. this causes them to fail because their ability to do accounting is fucked by external circumstances. six months to a year later, it's over, you lose your job, but nobody can invest anywhere the whole time. anything "safe" offered too low of a return, it got nowhere. all kinds of risky operations are created, none of which are sustainable. after these businesses close their doors, nobody even knows if their entire industry segment will still exist afterwards. any shred of certainty about the future is erased.
gold is simply the one commodity that has a 5000-year track record of surviving all of this and worse. oil hasn't been around that long.

This guy gets it. Helicopter data is what early stage exploration companies use for properties that are either hard to get to or they don’t have the capital, equipment, and manpower to do ground-based exploration and eventually drilling. This is literally meaningless. Actually, no, it’s not meaningless, it’s a great indicator that the system is collapsing and the regime desperately doesn’t want people to buy gold. So this is a sign that you need to be buying gold.

You look for gotcha sound bites without thinking. The time, effort, money that it takes to get to hard-to-reach gold pushes the mining costs up. There is also the lead time to get a mine operating. Also, there is the practical reality of if it is profitable to the mining company to even go after the gold. If the prices crashed too low like you wrongly think it would, they would simply not mine it. And there's no way a solo retard like you would go get it, you would die trying.

The thing crypto chuds can't understand is that a physical commodity actually takes effort to get to. You can't print it, you can't program it into existence. You have to go get it. And yes while technology gets better over time to extract things, it is never going to be Star Trek easy where you beam it out of the ground. Gold currently costs between 1000 and 1400 dollars an ounce to get it out depending on ore quality and difficulty of the region. You have to DIG, you have to launch rockets to asteroids (in the far future), you have to develop the tech to grab the stuff and put it in a container and bring it to your refinery. There is a built in scalability to Gold that self regulates. So you can post all the memes you like. It won't change the fact that this ore find in Africa isn't going to drop gold prices. If anything, costs to mine mostly go up over time. Sorry buddy.

its gold ore. it says it right in ops article. gold ore usually has about 10 grams of gold per ton. it would be about about 320 tons if its all high quality ore, so an increase of 0.13%.

but 320 tons of gold is still 1.5 trillion for uganda, depending on how fast they can get it out, when uganda had a gdp of about 35 billion. it would be interesting to see what happens if they sold the rights to china for a trillion what would happen to the country.

Exactly. The idiots in this thread are living proof that paying attention to 30 second sound bites are all their tiny brains can muster anymore. They have been thoroughly pozzed by the media and their shitty school system. All it takes is about 5 minutes of research into what it takes to mine gold, especially in a region as fucking unstable as Uganda, and you instantly realize this will do nothing to the price of gold. Also the Chinese are funding this. That right there is enough for me to know this won't affect the gold price. The chicoms will horde what they mine out, adding to their govt. stack for a possible tethering of the yuan to gold sometime in the future to finally kill off the dollar.

The state of the modern man is truly embarrassing. A scary statistic, out of every 10 people who read a headline, only 2 of them click on the article. It's impossible to know how many finish that article, but I guarantee it's less than 2. Of the tiny percent that read an article, almost NOBODY will look into the subject further to round-out their understanding of the topic. Talk to normies for half a second and you'll notice they just repeat talking points and headlines without actually having any conception of what they mean/whether or not they're even true. On the up side, if you're one of the few people capable of and willing to actually research a topic for longer than 10 minutes, you can easily enter the top .1% of people "knowledgeable" about a subject. It is easy to see how that would be incredibly beneficial when you dedicate your time to understanding an aspect of the financial market. I decided to actually learn about precious metals, their history, their extraction methods, etc. If you aren't in on gold and silver, the sole reason for it is you haven't done any research on the topic. Anyone who has spent an hour researching gold and silver knows it is the only safe asset in today's global financial market. Best of luck to you all, but I know where my money is parked.

Yep, you're no expert. You're literally a waterhead. Gold is hard to find. You can sometimes find surface veins, or take a chance and guess and dig. Africa as a continent has large gold deposits, but that doesn't mean they're easy to find, or get out of the ground. Gold can theoretically form in any area around volcanoes, but very little is visible from the surface. And then there's dealing with the actual countries in Africa where it might be found, because your mine and gold will get jacked by some local warlord.
>how come it was never brought up as a potential gold spot before by people who research geological structures
Because vast amounts of the globe haven't been studied or can be seen from the surface. You're too dumb to explain further.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying
That supply regulation only works when anyone can create new money, which is exactly what happens with a silver/gold money system
silver and gold are a bitch to deal with for trade that must occur over any sort of distance, though, so there has to be some other way to represent that value in a true and level way
The best way to do that in my opinion would be a highly divisible digital commodity with a fixed supply and no controlling authority. It will then go through price discovery as it is being utilized.

I would be for digital currency if a supply was not fixed and would be function of demand/production costs. Think, 1 miner with certain computing power makes x currency, 2 miners make 2x currency. Problem is that blockchain cant function like that, because in times of low demand (inflation), the hashrate would decrease and whole thing would become vulnerable.

Initial distribution is the most difficult problem to solve when it comes to digital assets, and I don't believe it will ever be solved
'good enough' is the best we can do, and it's likely that speculation into an asset with high utility is that 'good enough', eventually it will be distributed enough that utility will overtake speculation
Sure that will pump the pockets of the original creator/holder of the asset, but I think it's fair that the original creator gets rewarded for their efforts, especially given that the asset will be undervalued until utility drives proper price discovery
